I bet that Takayama, Rodriguez AND the entire Fox Sports card could have been put on for what the A sides got here...and you'd have had change for ice cream and a few beers.

Sorry but Showtime wasted a lot of money here when they could have had 3 or 4 very good lower weight bouts. Investing in the lower weights is surely worth the money for fighters like Takayama, Rodriguez, Gonzalez, Yaegashi, Inoue, Cuadras, Srisaket and Yamanaka

Show time is screwed atsch Haymon has them using up budget on events that will get low ratings.
All this and they are losing money on the Mayweather ppvs. What benefit is Showtime getting from this :huh

You can't blame fighters for wanting to jump onto the Al Haymon express. **** even the inferior opposition got paid well. IMO Salka got paid pretty damn nicely.

Everybody on that card made a king's ransom. That model is unsustainable, though- fighters who want in better get it while the getting's good now, because there's going to be too much backlash for that to continue. The end game is this- we're going to see a ton of fighters signed to Haymon's stable because of that lure and we'll see an inability to land them all paydays and keep them active. Al's great at giving the signing bonus and landing that first big payday, but you can only pull that trick for so long when the mismatches are so blatant. His leverage right now is Mayweather, but what's next for that stable when Floyd retires and that bargaining power isn't there?

Showtime put up $1.5 million for that card, in total. That's an expensive way to hurt your brand, which is exactly what happened last night.

To put that budget in perspective, that's the same as what HBO spent on the Golovkin-Geale and Perez-Jennings card.

 

Yeah it's a pyramid ready to collapse and take Showtimes boxing, in it's current form, down with it. Showtime might have deep pockets but they aren't stupid and if they see costs going up and quality going down then they will just rip it up and find something else to fill the slot.

For $1.5million you could likely have shown Takayama Vs Rodriguez, Yaegashi Vs Gonzalez, Estrada Vs Segura and still ended up with enough money to do another show with the same 6 men in different match ups afterwards.
