Pavlik/Rubio was a mandatory. I can't state that enough. It kind of HAD to happen at some point. Cotto/Jennings was a rip but Arum insisted and you know how Bob gets when people even consider saying the word "no" to him. Cotto should flee the coop before we get more Cotto/Jennings types.
Rubio fight was way worse. Atleast in the kennings fight we got to see a man hit the canvas. Pavlik couldn't even put down this trash can of a fighter.
Funny how you didn't pay for it ( so I am assuming you didn't even watch it, or at least a good version of it) and yet you criticize it so much. Clearly you are a Pavlik hater. You criticize Pavlik for not knocking him down, yet if you were to actually watch the fight you would have seen a guy who just ran from Pavlik the entire time and simply was trying to survive, and then he quit on the stool.... his corner wanted him to continue and he said " NO "
Marquez/Diaz The Lightweight tournament Hatton/Pacquiao Barrera/Khan Penalosa/Lopez We have a lot of really good looking fights coming up. Tonight should have never been PPV, but I thought it was worth a watch for the Cotto victory alone. It was great too see Cotto vindicated. He felt vindicated, I believe.
Both Pavlik and Cotto needed those fights. Hope their confidence gets stronger and they will fight their best in 2009
I just think it's funny how people are flipping out about Rubio/Pavlik. Mandatory=Has to happen or else Pavlik loses the title. Some natural disasters can't be avoided.
No its called having illegal satellite. Go cry loser. I'm not a pavlik hater i was just baffled he couldn't put away a man who obviously didn't even try until the last couple rounds. A ****in former jr middle tamato can. Go suck a double jab.
I'm complaining that on a PPV card, there was not a shred of competitiveness. Both Jennings and Rubio were running scared from the start. You can't knock Cotto and Jennings for the quivering garbage that was put in front of them.
I don't think many are complaining about the fact it was a mandatory, more the way Pavlik took his time to dispatch an opponent who basically stood there. Pavlik would tee off on Rubio's head and then Rubio would back onto the ropes, where Pavlik would then tee off again. Pavlik is supposed to be a great finisher and Ko artist...an elite fighter would have shifted into another gear and taken Rubio out much quicker I feel. It was obvious from the 3rd onwards that Rubio had nothing to offer. I don't quite feel he was "running" as such. He backed off yeah, but was on the ropes making no attempt to get off them. Also, it wasn't like he was trying to smother Pavlik by tying him up every 5 seconds.
