Camacho vs Clarke looks to be the best fight on the card. the groves fight i can understand as it was at the last minute, but the headliner is just shite. i understand its for rankings, but as a fan i couldnt give a ****.

theres macklin, lee and murray (not right now obv) just from the domestic scene for starters. from fringe world level theres countless better opponents. i would actually rather see him fight proska tbf.

this is one downside we might see of a dominant matchroom, fighters with complicated politics to deal with to get opponents. the fact that the best domestic middleweights seem to have no intention of getting is exactly the sort of thing that we as real fans should not be putting up with.

The Groves fight is a waste of time. It's not football where you need to show off the new guy to your fans.
Will the crowd be chanting "Georgie" or "Eddie" for the ringwalk tonight?:dead

He does need to be kept busy though, a **** fight is better than no fight at all.

Prozska, Andy Lee, Vera, Rubio, Dzinziruk all turned the fight down. But no excuse Barker vs Ritollo should be a support fight at best.

a long well thought out post. i definitely dont agree with you all the time, but i hope people read long posts like this as it shows real thought.

i do wonder if a dominant matchroom will create problems delivering competitive cards. perhaps the best situation would be two or three strong promoters with sky as a much more committed partner. matchroom have set a solid standard for uk boxing in the last two years though. fights like barker vs martinez and rees broner have been brilliant to watch as a fan.

It's a glorified spar and should be buried deep in the undercard. Instead it's getting a fanfare and it's nauseating. Sky didn't give a **** about Groves but suddenly he's a star now because he is with Eddie.

This. Highlights of the stoppage at best, this should not be a live televised bout.

That would be a better situation bit you can't magic these promoters out of thin air. If Matchroom is the minimim standard and evey other promoter is 2/3 levels below them, what are Sky going to do? There not a charity.

From 2014 Season on when Matchrooms deal will be renegotiated, I would like to see them given 20 dates again for Saturday nights, then a contract for 4 PPV's per year. This would mean a show every other week. Then have 6 Prizefighters per year on Wednesday nights when there is no football, and 10 dates on friday nights that are open to be filled by the smaller promoters. If Coldwell or Fearon put on a show thats good enough Sky show it on a Friday. Obviously in conjunction with that they pick up more US shows.

Where did the "Sky didnt give a **** about Groves" stuff come from? They showed highlights of his last 3 fights, been to all his press confences and interviewed him numerous times.

You have been watching to much Buncey.

And this is what I assess for my reduced boxing output that I pay for each month, he doesnt have a honeymoon period with this, he has to deliver now and for every show - especially as he is now the sole promoter/Saturday night boxing & we are getting less boxing output for our Sky subs.

On top of the inconsistency of Saturday night shows, we have PPV for Froch-Kessler 2. That is just bull****. We are effectively paying an extra tenner per month to watch Sky on HD as well as our Sky Sports package.

Sky should be including Froch-Kessler 2 for our subs, especially as they have already cut the boxing budget and are giving us less shows. Moreover, we know nothing of the planned quality of the televised under card for this - which was one of the biggest criticisms of the poor PPVs that they had prior to this return.

Ultimately, I will judge if Hearn's monopoly is a good thing on the evidence of his output for his two year contract.
