Hearn has a monopaly on Sky Boxing but not on UK Boxing. I think we see a good undercard. Hearn needs PPV to work.
I don't watch Buncey. If watching Groves beating up a bum is your cup of tea, then you are in for a treat tonight. I can't wait for Johnny and Glen to gush over his performance:bbb
Jonesy, lets wait and see what his under card is for Froch-Kessler, I cannot discuss this with you as it isnt announced. It is in a big venue, they will generate a lot of money from sponsorship, television advertisement and the world wide television rights. Neither fighter is a marquee name like Mayweather or Pac and Froch wasnt a good PPV draw for Primetime. This fight should be on Sky Sports 1 and Sky can dip into their pocket to throw a bit more money into the pot to pull it off. Germany operates well without PPV, we have just accepted it too easily for our boxing. I will pay PPV when it genuinely is the only way to finance a top marquee fight.
I was responding to your comment about Sky not caring about Groves before. No I would rather they showed Clarke vs Camacho or Taylor vs Skinkwin.
Hearn said it himself, there no in-between. Thats the problem. Even a modest PPV buyrate trumps regular Sky money by a distance.
Because of the Hearn's pulling string with sky to get all the TV dates they can now do what they want. What should have happend is Sky should have said we're putting on 20 shows a year, the best shows will get TV coverage. Now you have good shows not getting good coverage and fighters like Quigg, Murray, Dickinson, Price etc. who can not get on TV and have to go elsewhere if they want to get coverage. It is bull **** but people think the Sun shines out of Hearn's arse.
Hearn is a good sales man. But, to borrow from his recent language he has to look out for the best interests of his 'client' (fighter).
Then we are in agreement on that point. Groves was just another Brit fighter up until a week ago. I only hope GG gets it done in one so they can show a better fight.
Hearn's power will only increase with the more dominance he has at Sky and we have to trust that he will consistently make good on his vow to put on quality shows. If Sky start rejecting his shows due to poor quality - what is their plan B? The other promoters cannot attract enough good fighters and they are out in the cold. I think they should have kept Hatton on and gave him 6 shows per year.
The whole set up is crap. I think they should say the matchups they want to buy and tell the promoters of those fighters to make it happen. Giving a promoter a free reign to put on a show of their choosing is wrong imo. We don't watch promoters, we watch fighters!
Looking at the Argentinians record I think theres a good chance of your hopes being realised,Scotty.I hope he walks out of the place under his own steam.Going back to Froch/Kessler,I agree with Gasman that it shouldn't be pay per view,if only because I hoped those days had gone.Personally, would have liked Carl to take on Stevenson first, but realise Ill be in a minority.
they have talked often about groves being a potential world champion.....thats what they talked about this week.
Everyone has a price and since Hearn has a randsome on all of the TV dates the least he could do is folk out the money to get these guys to fight on the card. When ****** is cheap skate ******* with this stuff you cry about it but when Hearn is (just as often) you always havean excuse. Did the guys turn down the fight? No they turned down the offer Hearn made simple as that. Stop using that bull**** excuse it's not like anyone believes it when ****** says he offered Hopkins etc offers for Clev.
