How do we know that Jonesy blamed ****** for vazquez pulling out, for all we know Hearn could have sneakelly put a spanner in the works of that show. and what if Hearn hadn't tapped up Groves the show would be even shitter. For all we know hearn has tapped up Groves n Burns in advance and given Vazquez a bung to pull out, makes as much sense as Jonsey's theorys about ****** never having the fight penciled (even though he had proof it was.
Just thinking recently about the golden days in the mid to late 90s when you had those storming UK/US mega cards. Remember one particular night when Collins fought Sellier that was just loaded with great fights (maybe Moorer fought Botha later on that night). Compare that to now and it's just grim all round.
This is the only Matchroom card i can remember being a little bit disapointed with, prizefighter aside. A barnstormer of a fight fell through at the last minute. Barker is still finding sharpness and Groves signed what about a week ago. If this becomes a consistent theme then by all means complain but i think its too early to start criticizing at this point in time. It could be worse, SKY could be putting VVarren cards on.
Good interview by Ed with Hearn and Barker, he at least pressed Hearn about a big fight next for Barker.
The truth is that if FWP had promoted that show tonight then he'd be severely slagged off. 3 of Hearns stable lost title fights, if that happened with FWP, people would be slagging his matchmaking off. Goes to show, we need promoters and competition, FWP leaving boxing like Jonsey has openly admitted he wants, does nothing for competition.
doesnt it show his fighters are being matched tough if they are loosing? id agree that the top of bill card was horrendous but the fighters lower down are being matched tough.
how lucky was he that groves did jump ship allthough he was in a **** fight it still added a bit imagine if it was just Barkers and Purdys fight
