Agree with fight outcome but that stoppage was out of order as was his card as a judge earlier. Stated before the fight that this was in the pipeline with him as ref and even if Martin could outbox Taylor, O'Connor was there as Head judge just in case.
Dont think fight should have been stopped when it did but Taylor looked special. Opponent was limited but the footwork, faints, the punch variety and placement were top top draw by Taylor.
I don't suppose this injury will do Paul Butlers chances of participation in wbss any good? Just a thought, ....prob not ...
No doubt about the fight outcome but there is no chance this crooked jock would have stopped the fight if that was Taylor being punched when down - Martin would have been deducted a point at least and no way would the fight have been stopped.
I agree shouldn't have been a Scottish ref, but how often have we seen English refs ref English fighters in big fights? I remember being at the MEN to watch Scott Harrison v Michael Brodie and the ref and 3 judges were all English.
By the way I like Taylor mate and think he has the potential to be our best boxer by a mile if he fulfils his potential. As we seen recently with Lewis Sh itson, one bad night and the potential suddenly is revised significantly downwards. Taylor has looked the real deal since his fights in Meadowbank - now he has to conquer the business end.
Only just got in to watch about 15 minutes ago and all the boxing is over already... pretty disappointing.
Why can't boxing have neutral referee's and judges because it just looks bad when a referee does stop the fight early in favour of his fellow countryman.
Joke stoppage. That being said Taylor is vicious his mindset is ideal for the fight game, Martin the opposite
I agree it was a premature stoppage but Martin was looking for away out from the start, after the shot to the back of the head he thought he couldn’t maybe have got Taylor DQed Was a great performance from Taylor moved well got in and out quickly and picked his punches well
