In this edition of MMA Down Under, Chad gives us an update on some of the top talent coming out of Australia.

Current Warriors Realm heavyweight champion BRAD MORRIS (5-2) recently signed a 2-fight deal with the BodogFight organization. Understandably, Brad is very excited about being able to showcase his talents on the international stage and is training hard. Brad will be traveling to Vancouver in July for BodogFight season five.

JAMES TE HUNA (5-3) from the same stable as Brad (Penrith Elite) will undergo surgery to fix a recurring shoulder injury. James has suffered from regular dislocations for some time now, but has vowed to return stronger than ever to continue his rise up the MMA ladder.

DANNY HIGGINS (7-4) from Integrated Martial Arts is due to fight on the Strikeforce / Elite XC show later this month in the US. Danny will take on MMA veteran Eugene Jackson in what is sure to be a tough encounter.

TONY “GUN” BONELLO (13-0) is focusing all his energies on making an impact in the “big shows” and has been training in the US with the likes of UFC light heavyweight champ Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, the crew at Team Punishment and also Brazilian ace Renato “Babalu” Sobral.

Despite being undefeated in MMA, Bonello considers this phase to be the “start” of his career. So keep an eye out for the “Gun” as he is sure to make his presence felt on the big stage.

As the popularity of MMA continues to soar in Australia, so does the quality of fighters. With continuing international experience and exposure, the land “Down Under” will no doubt become a hot bed for MMA talent. I, for one, am more than excited to be able to witness with the evolution of the mixed martial arts phenomena in Australia.

Until next time, take care from MMA Down Under.
