while you are at it, why not have Tony fight Tyson and Tony can stop Mike in a couple of rounds. Honestly, Tony looked good vs. C level fighters. Those guys Hearns,Duran,Leonard,Benitez,Hagler were A level. Tony never even fought the B level guys like Moore. I would have even wanted to see how Tony would do against Luigi Minchillo. I think Minchillo might win.

    HELL NO!!!!!!

Hagler would have beat him the worst, probably would have stopped him in 5 rounds.

Leonard would have stopped him in 10 , Ayala would have no answer for Rays speed, stamina and way superior skills.

Hearns would have won a decision, as long as his shaky chin, and sometimes suspect legs, wouldn't have betrayed him in the later rounds.

Duran would be the easiest for Ayala, out of the fab four, but i believe Roberto wins it on a close decision, Duran was a very under rated boxer, and experience counts here..

The only fighter i could see Ayala beating is Benitez, and that's 50-50 pick em.

I remember watching the Epps fight many many years ago, i vaguely recall Epps getting stopped on his feet, only after taking a few punches wasn't really hurt, and that weak ass ref stopped it, and oh yea the fight was in Texas, Ayala's backyard:-(
As far as Moore goes, i think he could have beaten Ayala but it would have been a very close duel..

actually, Tony was highly favored to trounce both Moore and Duran

We know Tony was a man of stremely poor character but the question is, can he fight?

I am in a agreement with the experts that Tony was destined to become the next champion and there is no way a passive Benitez had enough to hold off a powerhouse who clearly had more drive. Tony would just punch to the body until Wilffred succumbed 8 - 10 rounds at the latest

I don't see it. Tony never fought that level of fighter, and Hearns and Duran both could not stop Benitez, I don't think Tony would beat him easily or at all. Tony is a lot of hype, and yet he did not have that great head movement. And remember, Benitez was fighting some of his best fights at 154 and getting some power behind his punches as Maurice Hope would attest to.

Ayala would`ve been picked apart and stopped by Duran most likely. Duran hated Ayala and that would have given him the edge to get in top shape and be focused.

Coming straight at Duran unless you have an iron chin like Hagler usually isn`t a good idea. He would feed Ayala angles, walk him into shots and use his aggression against him.

which Benitez are we talking about? The one who fought Hearns and Duran, or the one who fought Hilton in 1986 4 years later? The one who fought Hilton, maybe Ayala could beat, but the one who fought Hearns and Duran I think stops Ayala, since title fights then were 15 rounds, and both Hearns and Duran went 15 with Wilfred Benitez in 1982.

Some of his fights had no audience, just a seriously overmatched opponent. F**k him!

I remember The Experts also thinking Greg Haugen would scrap his way to a decision over Pernell Whitaker. I remain unconvinced of their genius.

No. I can't for the life of me see Ayala ever beating Leonard, Duran, Hearns, or Hagler. Of those 4, I suppose the most interesting fight would him vs Duran. Leonard, Hearns, and Hagler would have raped Ayala (no pun intended).

HOWEVER, I think it's likely that Ayala would have beaten Moore. Davey was just too easy to hit, and Ayala's power was legit.

    Hearns by decision? LMAO!

Tommy made a career off of feasting on little Mexican sluggers.

Ayala wouldn't go longer than 4 with Hearns.

Ayala might have beaten Davey Moore, but there is no way he beats anyone in the fab 5

Greg Haugen? Haugen was just some short armed tough guy contestant, not very talented

Tony wouldve flattened Moore trust me much in the same way Aquino punched him apart. Moore's defense was swiss cheese

He did manage to beat Jimmy Paul, Vinny Pazienza and Hector Camacho. He got the most out of what he had.
