Some fresh footage. I know Tony has a few fans on here and there are plenty of other that believe he was the one of the inevitable next big things... I think my opinion lays somewhere in-between, but I do like watching him fight.

Good fighter, but people act like ge was a god or something. Shuler, Ramos, and Moore would beat him. Him and Hamsho would be interesting.

I think what people miss is his seasoned style and instinct in one package that was not common

Don't think I've seen him really overrate him in recent years. He had some loud fans years ago on here...

Well those with the natural instincts like that aren't common but he was compared to Duran often it is key to remember that Ayala was a teenager in this fight and fighting like an old seasoned pro....he had great timing and range, his hooks were beautiful his head movement and hands were beyond his age and dare I say most. He also has a violence and meanness that few fighters carried into the ring. I will have to think about some comparable modern fighters what I mean by Ayalas package is the things he does that are instinctive.

He and Moore would have been a great fight. Moore was very weak defensively. Tony got hit a lot, too. But his defense was better than Moore's.

Tony's dad was like Gregorio Benitez in that he had his kids fighting almost from day one. Thus, Mike and Tony Ayala were very advanced for their age.

I don't think he would have beaten Duran, but had a great shot of beating Moore.

    Agreed with Saad.

Ayala could have beaten Moore, but Duran would taken him apart. Duran would have hated Ayala, and would have been motivated to give him a beating.

The man knocked out Pipino Cuevas when Baby Tony was only 6 years old. Haven’t you heard?

Kilt him a bear when he was only 3.

And Moore had a great shot of beating Ayala, especially if the fight went late.

Ayala was special. You can see it here with his poise and power as he just shreds Gregory, who was good enough to go 15 competitive rounds with Kalule, and you knew from the first 30 seconds what would happen.

I liked Moore much better personally, but I would've bet all the money I could find that Moore would have been run through and kayoed brutally.

Duran v Ayala in 1983 - how do people feel that would have gone?

Duran would have been too much if he came in fit and focused.

Tony had a somewhat similar style to Duran but Duran was slicker and had the vast knowledge that comes with experience. And, Duran preferred guys he could find. Tony would be there to be hit. Tony had more power but Duran wasn't easy to hit and had a good chin. I think, Duran by mid to late rounds stoppage.

He'd have had a much better chance against Davey Moore. He would have fought Moore next if he hadn't raped that woman and gone to prison.

I think this is a fight Duran would love. Duran did not like guys who were fast who moved and made him find them, which he didn't fight many guys like that only the elites like Hearns,Leonard,Benitez. Ayala would be a fight Duran would win in about 8 or 9 rounds. Slowly he takes over and at the end the ref. stops it.
