Another one for the ages...skilled speedster vs. relentless aggressor....I see Roy outspeeding Tony for much of the fight. However Tony would keep coming, and just may wear Roy down through unrelenting pressure....honestly this is a tossup. Over 12, I'll say decision either way. Over 15, it's either Roy's speed that wins by decision or last round TKO...or Tony's withering attack could wear RJJ out for a SD or last round TKO.
Ayala never fought at 160 untill post prision, so he is clearly at an early disadvantege. RJJ to much speed, skill, power...heck too much every thing!!!! If Ayala manages to last 4 I would be surprised! And I usually find jones largely overrated, but this is a complete mismatch!
As much as I love Roy Jones (Roy is in my top 10 p4p) I say he needs to go to the well for this one. People may laugh but I believe he would be tested far greater degree than with Hopkins. That's my honest opinion Hopkins is more a technician and less a threat as the aggressor. But Tony is more the debilitating puncher whose type the sport hasnt seen much of since. Given enough experience and with the right preparation, I think the Duva's may have themselves a winner.
i dont know how many fighters at middleweight had the legs to keep up with roy for 12rounds. bernard hopkins may not have been the veteran great that he was when he fought roy, but he certainly had great fitness and could not keep up with him. i dont know to much about ayala, certainly a great talent, but i have never seen anyfighter that roy fought at middle weight that had the legs to catch him or cut him off.
Tony has the power boxing ability and chin to take RJJ to the late rds, where Tony's body shots and relentless attack take a toll on Jones.
I cant believe this ****. Tony beat WHO exactly to make you believe he could beat an atg like Jones? And not only was Roy alot better than the ******, but naturally bigger as well.
Yeah Ayala's chin was awesome, thats why non-punching,jnr middle, journeyman Mario Maldanado nearly knocked him out. Jones does a Thomas Tate like number on Ayala (although Tate's chin is more proven than Ayala's).Roy rocks and beats up the smaller, slower, fatter man in the first before knocking him out in the second. It'd be that easy.
Complete mismatch. There's no result to suggest otherwise unless someone was really high on Robbie Epps. Jones tendency toward caution would make this last longer than necessary. Jones TKO 7.
Jones jr. would be cautious cause he knows Ayala could hit like a mule but would also befuddle him with speed and movement. Jones UD in a virtual shutout.
