I must have read every news article, tons of post on here, and lots of videos, pre-fight. The vast majority of them basically said Bellew had no right being in the ring with Cleverly, this was a mismatch, he was going to be outclassed, blown out within 5 rounds etc etc. I knew there was no way either of those was going to happen and personally could not see how Cleverly was going to win the fight and was certain Bellew was either going to knock him out or out-box him. I underestimated Cleverly and would like to apologise to him. He is a good fighter and will go places.

This thread is for all those who said any of the above and are man enough to admit they were wrong and apologise to Bellew for underestimating him.

I cant recall what i said beforehand i reckoned Clev would take it but at the end of the day you can only judge a fighter on what theyve done. Before the fight by looking at their last 6 fights (which one poster did in some detail, cant recall who) it was hard to argue a case for Bellew being competitive in the fight. Its the same with Bute, if he fights one of the top guys at smw i will bet against him just because he hasnt fought and beaten guys at the same level people like Froch, Kessler and Ward have.

Obviously he proved that wasnt the case and i have tons of respect for him and he put ona great performance and i felt looked alot more world class in the ring than Clev.

There was a few posters who gave bellew absolutely no chance but I just ignored them as it was clearly a competetive match up. I suggest you do the same pal!

I was one of those who very easily dismissed Bellew's chances. But I'm not gonna' apologize for it. I was rooting for him, after all. I was happy that he proved me wrong. I had him losing 7-5, but it was a very close 7-5. He can be proud of his effort.

I said Clev would win by UD.

    So, not apologising for that.

Never really been impressed with Clev and as good as Bellew did on Saturday I dont see him winning a world strap. One of the top guys domestically and in Europe, but dont think he'll make the leap up to world level.

Strange thread, to be honest. I didn't see many people saying Bellew was terrible before the fight. Personally, I didn't think that Bellew had done enough prior to the fight to earn a world title shot, so I was kind of setting the world title aside and seeing it as a fun domestic grudge match. I said beforehand that I like both of them, but looking at who they had fought and how they had performed, I thought that Cleverly would take it by late stoppage or points. That's what happened. I still like both guys, I thought that Bellew was very gracious in defeat. I think, perhaps, that people were overating Bellew's power before the fight, as he did get through yet Cleverly took it and came back.

I thought that the cards were a bit crazy - but what's new there?!?

I liked them both before the fight, I still like them both, I thought that the better man won on the night, and as I think that Cleverly has more potential than Bellew I think that the result we got is good for British boxing, too.

I really didn't see much hate for Bellew prior to the fight - if anything, Cleverly got more hate than Bellew!

People don't have to apologize for there opinions. I believe some posters based there oppinions on hate and dislike towards man and some vastly overrated Cleverly. But there entitled to there opinions. I'm glad Tony proved them wrong...

  14. I think the only people that need to apologise are those that called Bellew a turd and accused people of only supporting him because he posts on here.

Those saying that they felt he'd lose (including me) have nothing to apologise for.

I did say that if Bellew boxes and uses his superior footwork he'd give Cleverly fits, but that Cleverly would eventually get to him and take him out in the late rounds. Half right I guess.
