Tony Bellew Apology Thread

I said Cleverly would dominate and stop Bellew. Tony really showed huge improvements on Saturday night. I expected more from Clev though.

 

i gave bellew a solid chance of winning. i said that if clev could take his shots clev would win.

bellew will probably never fulfil his potential though because of his training set up. the chap is being trained by amatuer trainers. tibbs was in the corner but i dont think he was training him for the fight.

this is a case of having kids too young in life. bellew had a kid at age 21. that prevented him from going abroad and getting the best training for himself. same with maccarinelli, he was banging out the kids left right and centre. frankie gavin is another example. once you have a kid, you are tied down.

 

But fair play to you for a refreshingly honest appraisal of your own thread!

 

I expected more of Cleverly, but I too owe Bellew an apology - he looked WAY better than anything I've ever seen of him in the past. I personally scored the fight a draw and that was mainy because of Tonys jab looking so awsome - that really impressed me.

To Bellew - keep up the good work! world championship level is where he now belongs.

 

Livra i'm normally not one to pull you up on posts but..

Them amateur trainers are the guys who have done what exactly some of us felt on here and used Tony's attributes and got back to solid fundamentals and using his range to outbox his foes. The gameplan was pretty damn good and a lot better then many pro trainers would of came with. As for Tibbs he was in corner for cuts as he's best in biz for cuts bar Williamson and some say he's just as good.

The kids stuff is bollocks, Andre Ward has a few himself at a young age.

I agree with it all.

The trainers did an exceptional job no doubt. And if you look at the performances from Tony before his last 2 fights, the improvements are astronomical. And that is down to those two trainers so they do deserve some credit. perhaps i came accross a tad disrespectful towards them but my point was only that while they did a good job, they are still not top trainers like a tibbs for example.

 

Oh yeah i totally agree with that, And your right the change in him has been that big. He actually landed crisp straight punches for first time in a long time. He is a better fighter then the one who climbed off canvas against McKenzie.

 

Well I said I thought Cleverly would win a decision with experience showing. I wouldn't apologies though if I was even well off. It's boxing sometimes you get them right, sometimes you call them wrong.

Anyone who bases their opinion of whether or not they liker a boxer either naive or idiotic.

 

No need for apologies. I've already made a thread saying I ate humble pie after the performance Bellew put in. I had Cleverly smashing inside 8 rounds but he proved the doubters wrong.

Fair play to Bellew, he gave it a real go, even though it wasn't enough.
