Credit for coming on here Bomber I'm sure you read that all so well done for not throwing a flipper at us or going a bit psycho like Jaffa dad after a bit of criticism. Are you definitely going to be on the show in Liverpool, you clearly had a few bruises and cuts will they heal in time. And if you are is it going to be another defence or will it be an 6/8 rounder?
Not sure yet? will let you all know myself when I getb word, I will be fighting though, I will be getting last night outta my system as an active fighter is a better fighter..
I'm with you all the way. A lot of criticism has come your way and hopefully you take it all on board and come out firing. Good luck.
Bellew had him in all sorts of problems in rounds 1-3, I think the flash knock down was in his mind throughout the fight and boxing is mental as is physical. I guess when your in a situation like that, your skills just vanish for a period and start telegraphing everything out of frustration. He still won by a good 4-5 rounds so he was never dominated but just defused... a puncher when he can't land just looks so crude.
I was a bit drunk watching that fight last night mate, and I have to be honest I expected more from you, especially after watching most of your fights. by no means am I having a dig, but I was not impressed, you were too keen on the knockout, too keen to land that right hand, even though you did hurt and wobble him a few times. I've still got it recorded but through my drunken hazy memory I can't remember you putting much combinations together. He did appear awkward, and we all have off nights, but I was totally surprised by that last night. I was expecting a bit more. I think the KD affected you a little bit as well. only my opinion of course.
Tony, what has Arnie had to say following last night? Do you have any idea about which opponent Warren wants to put opposite you next as well? We can all look at the negatives, but there were still some positives as well: you're still champ, you went the distance for the first time, you got decent exposure on Sky Sports, and you also learned far more than you would have if you had blasted Ajisafe out in 1 round. Also, as you say yourself, you also got up from a flash KD. X 2. Bellew has taken all of the criticism he had last night as well as on here like a true gent. I think Jeffries could learn a lot from the way Bellew has conducted himself after, by his own standards, a bit of a nightmare performance.
Look at it like this, it was just another day at the office, some days you're up & some down but tomorrows another day & press on regardless as the great Duran had some stinkers did'nt he, ai'nt the end of the world, no need to pressure yerself, it's just the start, everyone's up for you & just focus on proving yerself right & forget about proving others wrong. IMO there's been a few good constuctive observations on here all with a positive angle & as they say, take it all in & select what you think is appropriate, as boxing fans we've all got yer best interests at heart in you & all our fighters succeding at the highest level & i do appreicate it ai'nt easy when yer a young man in a hurry, i was once also, take yer time & focus on perfecting yer trade as "practise makes perfect" to polish yer skills:good
Beat me to that regarding Jeffries. I've not watched the fight yet but it's clear the performance wasn't the best, but in fairness to Bellew he's realised it. He's not been making pathetic videos whining about the referee, people writing **** (in his opinion) on the FB page etc..... he's been honest with himself, credited his opponent and vowed to come back stronger. A real professional never makes excuses. Because he's no excuses to make.
Tony all fighters have them fights, Sometimes it be a war, or a knockdown or a loss or a draw. You came through a torrid couple of rounds to regain your title. Just take heed of that warning. Your problem you already highlighted and that was looking for the KO. I think you just had an off night and you showed some of your flaws. It could be the night that makes you mate. I think you need to string your punches together (i know Bob was hard to nail down) but in future ring off combinations and improve your inside work as well as patience because it really is a virtue. There's plenty to work on offensively and defensively but you can come good mate. Hope you get a decent fight for next month.
True words there mate the more often you fight the easier it is to rectify mistakes. Don't let one difficult fight break your momentum! Best of luck for the future.
What about if you went out boozing the night before :beer and you were still hung over when you were in the ring the next day ? Thats the most bizzare reason I have ever heard for a pro losing a fight.
good post. do you train in any of the bmth clubs at all mate? i used to train at bournemouth amateur and then trained at the bulldog.
I thought Cleverly was being an arsehole aswell, he totally shot down the chance of the Bellew fight at the first opportunity like he never wanted it anyway. He's got to think one bad loss and he will be right back to square one and I bet then he would want the Bellew fight again.
The fight aside Mr Bellew, I was impressed by the performance and work on the prefight video tape that Sky aired. I often cringe at some boxers performances on these things, but it was great.
