i;m worried about tony at 175, his legs look really skinny they remind me of khan pre-ariza and i'm concerned about the punch resistance because of that, especially the balance aspect when he takes a shot. the fight tonight as most have said will be a learning experience, every single fighter even the elite will have had a night like that and it's a good thing. tony will have learned more in those 12 rounds alone than every one of his 13 fights before, he's a student of the game and i'm confident he'll learn from his mistakes. it seems to be the in thing these days to write off fighters based on one bad performance, devon alexander for example, i think a bit of perspective needs to be had by all. bellew's still a relative novice and still has a bright future ahead of him
Bellews walking around weight is 195! He needs to fight at cruiserweight. Still an average fighter though
Bellew has a hell of a lot to learn, other than power i don't see much to recommend him to be honest.
Johna, agree with that. But after all his talk, Tonys pride will not allow him to move up IMO. But now he will have to learn being big and strong isn't the be all and end all. He needs to put work into things, and wait for the big punches to come, or at least set them up and throw to the body with authority. At least now he has 36 minutes of footage to show him everything he does wrong. He can improve, but Clev is miles in front of him now, a real shame but that fairytale build-up just isn't going to happen now. Praise to Ajisafe though. For a late starter he showed grit. Best thing is, Bellew will have no shortage of potential opponents now. A few impressive performances now and he can eradicate the memory of this fight.
i think cruiser is too big for him , and he is too big for light heavy, maybe we need a new weight, super-light heavy or light cruiser around the 13st 2 lb
I think someone mentioned it earlier as well, but Tony said he was only rehydrating to 13st tonight because of his planned fight next month, compared to the 13st 7 i think he usually goes back up to on fight night. for me this is a crazy thing to do, when you're boiling your body down as much as he is to make the weight you need to rehydrate as much as you possibly can, forget about the future and concentrate on the present. this might have contributed to the lack of snap and sharpness in his punches tonight as well
Surname's Johnson hence the Johna nickname :good By all means call me John though I agree though Flea, not trying to make excuses for the overall performance by any means just think it may have contributed. The technical issues were of more importance and need more work than anything else
