Because I doubt the fight will ever be made. A fight vs Uysk is not a big money-spinner, not when calculated against the risk. Uysk called him out and he felt duty-bound to show interest, Let's see if his intentions are sincere. You realise there's a difference between saying you'll take a fight and actually taking it?

If he takes it, I'll happily eat my words but until then... stop shaking your head, it looks like a nervous twitch...

    This is can agree with.

A minute ago it was a cherry pick.

Fury ain’t happening.Ward is retired,Parker and Whyte are proper heavyweights and Bellew himself has admitted he isn’t one.

No matter what weight these two fight at it would be one sided.

So if in the end, he doesn't fight someone who has called him out (as I believe will be the case) because the fight does not make financial sense when calculated in the context of the sporting risk, what would you call that? If you're not happy with the term cherry picker, we can agree on a new one. I will suggest doing a 'Bellew'.

I very clearly haven't changed my stance. You saying I have doesn't make it fact. As I say, if he takes the fight, I'll happily hold my hands up over this.

You said he was cherry picking as he was making Usyk fight at cruiser.
You are talking rubbish on that point.

My point is - he's just doing what Tony has been doing for years.... talking a good fight. So yeah he will talk about fighting Uysk at CW because he's pretty certain Uysk won't fight at CW again, so he looks like a 'warrior' who will fight anyone but is safe in the knowledge he can swerve when Uysk moves up to HW (it's all about the belts apparently, and there will be no belts on the line at HW), which he himself seems to expect because - according to 'The Bomber' - Uysk is struggling to make weight. If you can't see that as preparing the ground for a swerve, I don't know how I can help you.

Yeah I’ve said that’s spot on.

But it’s not a cherry pick.

Ok, well I have a golden rule with online discourse. Once we migrate to the muddy waters of semantics, I take a step back....

Btw, I hope the fight is made at CW because although I give Bellew some criticism for how he's conducted his career over the past 2-3 years, he's actually a pretty talented boxer. He can't win that fight, but he can compete...

There's also the reward to factor into the equation which is a chance to win all the belts in the CW division and obtain a win over an ATG. It won't happen but there's enough incentive there to make him take the challenge.
Managing to be competitive in defeat won't do him any harm either if he's able to have some success. I can't see the logic in somebody turning down a fight against an undisputed champion. Especially a guy who has one foot out the door already.

Fair points... persuasive. Also, maybe he's short of options and that might see the fight made? As far as I can recall Bellew has previously mentioned Fury, Ward and talked about Uysk but always qualified the latter saying the money's not there. Fury seems an unlikely option atm, Ward is.... well, technically 'retired', not a CW and has NEVER travelled to fight. So that leaves Uysk. Hearn is muttering about better financial numbers after the weekend, so some movement by Matchroom there. My nagging doubt though is, will Bellew want to retire after a schooling? He's has a pretty sharp brain, he knows what a step up in class this fight will involve. But yeah, a heroic defeat would have honour, enough to walk away his reputation unscathed. I think he gets schooled though....

His options being badly limited is another reason why he should give it a go. And its not a bad fight coming from Usyk's POV either since Briedis and Gassiev rematches are premature for now. Bellew would be a good first defense and the win would bring a lot off attention to Usyk from the casual market. Its the fight to be made imo.
