Tony Bellew on Dave Coldwell

In fairness, Bellew probably can flog enough tickets to be a genuine attraction, I don't see why he should play second fiddle to Cleverly, considering they went pretty much 50-50 over 12 rounds, and have to wait while Nathan gets through several meaningless defences for another shot.

Obviously time will tell whether Coldwell can really deliver, but I'd imagine good sales at this bill will give him a serious kick in the right direction.

If Dave can get lads signed up from Sheffield, Manchester and Newcastle there's potential for regular spots on Sky. Co-operation between promoters is obviously the way forward - we get to see the top domestic fights as opposed to imports for meaningless belts.

 

Aye, Matchroom would be the obvious choice. I think whichever way you look at it Bellew and Fwank are through - good on Tony.

The easiest fight to make for Cleverly and Tony this year would have been a rematch however he puts Cleverly on against a no mark opponent and fails to win Tonys purse bid despite the fact Tony was really the one that sold the fight.

 

^ and Bellew was the one that came out of the fight with most credit too, despite ''losing''.

It's akin to two office workers who are pretty much at the same level, one has a really good month before pay review time and the other just has a ''par for the course'' period.

One gets a payrise, company car and private healthcare, the other receives a paycut, has to work Saturday mornings and goes for the fish & chips on Fridays. Complete bollocks.

As an outside bet, how about Coldwell to nab a few of the 2012 Olympians? they will already have a base in Sheffield and will be able to work with a young promoter without the baggage of FW. It could be mutually very beneficial.

In my opinion, Dave Coldwell had no business bidding for this fight. He should stick to being a manager and trainer.

 

I'd leave the Olympians well alone and focus on building talent of your own.

Unless of course they're willing to fight for the same as everybody else.

If Coldwell did acquire some high profile fighters he would get on Sky. He could always screen fights live on youtube or ''coldwellTV'' for the shows that Sky weren't interested in.

If you can produce a product on a regular basis Sky will listen. They booted Hennessy because he wasn't making the right fights, just as ITV later did. He wouldn't match Thaxton vs Murray, couldn't do anything with Witter and messed around with Froch.
