He fought at LHW, of course he's too small. Honestly guys like him should not face these giant SHWs, look at Adamek-Klitschko, what a travesty of a fight that was. Disgusting to me.

Size had nothing to do with it. Adamek showed up too heavy and fought a stupid fight. He used no angles, stood in front of Vitali, and never parried any of Vitali's jabs.

Chris Byrd after couple rounds figuered out Vitali, who has a good engine for a big guy, but is very robotic and predictable. Byrd neutralized Vitali's jab early and kept baiting Vitali to punch as low as possible since its a great way to wear taller fighters out and it also stiffens up the shoulders. Byrd also kept throwing hard straight lefts to Vitali's chest, which killed Vitali's stamina in the later rounds.

a lot of people underrated Bellew with Haye. I know I thought Haye would blitz him. At this point, he seems like a legit fighter and could give those guys a good fight. Yes.

I saw Vitali Vs. Byrd, Vitali as winning the fight with one arm, problem was that Vitali's arm went numb, so he had to quit and have surgery. Vitali would have easily knocked Byrd out in a rematch with two arms and could have won the fight with one, but did not want to lose the use of his arm permanently.........................he had surgery, he sent us pictures, damn, his arm was in a huge cast and hung up.....................so do not believe the lies about Vitali and that fight. Hell, Byrd said that Vitali was more difficult than Vlad, I know what happened and read and heard the lies put our by biased boxing writers......................

@OpinionOfACasual has gone very quiet after claiming Bellew was a SHW in the amateurs.

I know some hate the idea but it does feel like there could be an additional weight class to separate the Giants from the merely huge...

How can you tell though? He's spent the last 14 months fighting the boxing equivalent of a mirage, the artist formerly known as David Haye.

He's done it well and improved as a boxer, but he has no business against the best in the cruiser weight division or the biggest heavyweights. He either very carefully selects an opponent or he calls it a day. I sincerely hope the latter.

Always leave them wanting more as they say...

It is sort of like when Toney beat Holyfield. Sometimes it is hard to know if a guy is on the downside or a great style did it. Or when Hearns beat Duran. Which is two great fighters. Duran won a title 5 years later, not that Haye will win a title in 2023. he is no Duran. But you wonder what it has to do with the fighter who won and not how diminished the loser is, which is always easy to say rather than give credit to the winner. But I see your point and it does make sense, but. I do think Bellew needs a chance to see if he is for real and fighting Wilder or Joshua will show us. He beat a very good quick fighter with a nice right hand.

Yeah, try fighting a guy 6 inches taller than you and who's got 40-50 lbs on you. Even if you discount every technical/physical advantage just having such a massive presence in front of you is gonna set you back mentally big time. It's not possible to fight your normal fight against an opponent who's that much bigger.

Vitali shoulder injury was bogus just like PAC's shoulder injury excuse against Mayweather. Merchant called Vitali out for quitting in the post fight interview and even Vitali's coach looked ashamed of him. Vitali was still punching with both arms until the last round and even his coaches were telling him not to quit, since Byrd was getting robbed on the score cards and Vitali would've been gifted a decision. Byrd with no training camp neutralized Vitali's jab and had Vitali loading up and missing and gassing in the mid rounds. Vitali quit because he gassed out and didn't want to risk being stopped like Wlad, who a few years before was stopped by Ross Puritty, who was easily beaten by Byrd.

Also, its funny you say Vitali would've easily beat Byrd in the rematch when Vitali shamelessly ducked the rematch. Vitali and his team rejected the rematch with Byrd, since the same result would've happened, but they were glad to offer Byrd a fight with Wlad, who is by far a much better boxer than Vitali and hits much harder. For having such a severe shoulder injury Vitali was more than happy to climb in the ring with a scrub like Timo Hoffman just 7 months after the Byrd fight. As soon as Byrd couldn't get Vitali scheduled for a rematch 6 months after their original fight and signed to to fight Wlad instead Vitali's 'shoulder injury' suddenly disappeared.

Byrd also never said Vitali was a more difficult fight than Wlad, since it wasn't true. He said Vitali did better against slow punchers than Wlad did and that he had a better chin, but that Vitali's boxing skills were very one dimensional compared to Wlad.

I've gone 'very quiet' because i don't visit this board every single day.....

Bellew did operate at SHW and HW as an amateur.

And has operated at LHW, CW and HW as a pro.

Don't keep making yourself look foolish. Bellew was a SHW in the amateurs.....

You have commented plenty of times since I pulled you up on your nonsense...

And now you can't even admit you are wrong. Bellew was never a SHW in the amateurs. Please provide the sources, I'll happily provide mine if you want. Not that I need to as its well known he was a career heavyweight in the amateurs once moving to senior level.

I might be waiting a while.

I returned with over 40 alerts, i went through about 5 of them......

"Fighting out of Liverpool's Rotunda ABC, Bellew claimed both the 2002 and 2003 novice ABA title's by knocking out every man he faced with the exception of Rob Hough who went the whole 3 rounds from Paramount ABC (Stockport) in the under 10 bouts championships. Then, when he was eligible for the Senior championships, he stepped up to the 91kg heavyweight class and added even more titles to his collection."

    91 kg = SHW.

Now log off and educate yourself.

    Pro HW = Amateur SHW.

Tony Bellew lost to Danny Price in 2006.

    Danny Price-

Described as: "British professional boxer, best known for winning the national amateur title in 2006 at 201 lbs/91 kg."

More proof of Bellew fighting at SHW.....
