Hard 1-2 by Burton. Very rangy, able to land from well beyond Studzinski's reach. Hard jabs and crosses landing over and over as they circle slowly several feet apart. Studzinski tries to move in with a high guard pinned to his face, sacrificing himself and willingly eating some jabs to the top of the head to get close. Hooks around the guard. Studzinski is a sitting duck on the outside and gets abused if he tries to get nearer.
Studzinski is plucky, give him that. He's taking some body shots now on the way in, as Burton realizes he can dip at the knees and land them from outside as easily as he lands his 1-2 without worrying about Studzinski even coming close. Studzinski is getting pasted with long straight left jabs. Studzinski windmills in a big motion with his right hand but gets stood still by a jab. High clapping shots to the guard by Studzinski, insistently working his way in. Big shots loaded up, none landing cleanly. Burton's hand is raised by referee Steve Gray immediately after the bell.
Froch is gay for Burton's outside boxing. :yep He quips that he wishes Burton was a southpaw, (implying he could use him to prep for Bute...)
Didn't like the look of Burton at all. Good jab against someone half his size he did follow it up with a nice right hand once. Didn't look to have good footwork and didn't want to even attempt mixing it up on the inside when Studzinski got there eventually. Can't see him stepping up but 2 fights is a bit too soon to write him off.
The weird thing was that Burton was the one who was bleeding from the nose. One of those seven shots in the first three must have been pretty good. Jacobs looked decent enough in spite of that and certainly landed the one two pretty regularly during the two rounds I saw.
