Navarette is tossing overhand rights on the move, changing directions on the outside as Smith comes stalking with jabs from a face guard. Smith is flashing a double jab now on the front-foot, circling in and ducking to land a counter right hand when Navarette comes diving in pitching his overhand.

I actually don't find this boring myself, as I've seen Navarette a bunch of times before and knew what to expect (and realize why Smith's people chose him) and can appreciate the subtle artistry of his tricky survive & pester style, as well as of Smith's applying good fundamentals to cope as best he can and outbox him - but can sympathize with those who might have been in the dark and thought "Ooh, a Mexican..."

 

Early in the card tbf, not like this is a co-main. Seventh-billed. :good

 

Round 8

Navarette is circling right and flipping up pairs of backhanded jabs from his groin, then lobbing an overhand right. Smith is carefully jabbing in from mid-range and clubbing Navarette on the side of the head with his own right hand after gaining position off to his left with a quick sidestep. Navarette is ducking by the ropes and flurrying when Smith gets close, scrappy on the inside.

Glenn McCrory has it 79-73 to Smith, giving Navarette the 2nd as I did.

Yeah, it was cagey throughout but all clear for Swifty except the 2nd.
