another controlled performance last night from tony bellew, he showed good composure but imo think he could have stepped it up a bit earlier and he could have got that lad out of there earlier but on the flip side he got more rounds in at the higher weight and he looks more comfortable since moving up but what are his realistic chances against the top dogs at cruiser?

marco huck: although pretty crude marco has a great engine and can punch pretty hard, i dont see tony beating him.

grigory drozd: another one that i dont see tony managing to beat

yoan hernandez: this would be tonys best chance at winning a title imo, yoan like most cubans can blow hot and cold and he can also be hurt.

denis lebedev: this would be interesting, if denis managed to impose his style he could dominate but he has been in some hard fights and tony might manage to sneak a points win against him.

rakhim chackiev: another strong and tough russian and would be another hard one for tony to beat. i think he coould also sneak a points win against him

olexander usyk: not had that much pro fights but he is a very good kid and think tony should stay away from him unless there is a belt on the line

illungu makuba: this would be a very interesting fight and probably one that could be made easy! makuba was stopped on his debut but has kod 18 of his next 19 wins but he isnt the biggest cruiser in the world and his opposition hasnt been the highest level so woudl be interesting to see if tony could outbox him.

there is quite a good depth of the cruiserweight division just now and i think it might be just as hard for tony to win a title here as it was at light heavy but the fact he looks better at the weight ie not so weight drained he might just sneak a title if he has a good night and his opponent has an off night!

    thoughts?

People don't like to give Bellew full credit because he's a bit of a nob but he could probably grind out a result against any of the champs at cruiser on his day.

However, I reckon Usyk would beat him and anyone else at the weight. That Kudryashov guy looks dangerous as well, he should probably swerve him.

Lebedev would kill him. He's skilled with a megaton left

Any of the top cruiser would KO him before the half way point. Wake up, the guy is nowhere near World class.

he has certainly got skills as he has shown against mckenzie/teh russian guy he stopped late and the croat last night. he would not be out his depth against hernandez imo but the rest probably beat him.

Belles does not beat any top cruiserweights, it was not a "controlled performance" Bellew laboured to a very late stoppage win.

I'm not sure Bellew is the type of fighter that can "go through the gears" hence why sometimes we see a bit of a laboured performance that doesn't live up to the 'bomber' tag.

The talent is there and I know people love to give him stick, but he wears his heart on his sleeve and there's no bull****.

No BS? What about all the big talk he gives before fights that he doesn't even try to back up. His quivering performance against Adonis was incredibly embarrassing after the way he was giving it in the build up.

Bellew would crush Stevenson at cruiser though.

I think Bellew is good enough to beat them all if he boxes smart which he has shown many times

Bellew has lost everytime he's stepped up to fight for a version of the world title. I don't see that unwanted record stopping at CW. I think all the CW champions ice him with relative ease. I'd like to see him in with Afolabi before fighting for a world title, though I understand the risk far outweighs the reward.
