Tony Bellew wants to change cruiserweight limit to 190 and make a new ‘super cruiser’ class at 220.

no cause these guys are actually heavy weights, so it doesnt matter if they carry 10lbs of fat more they will never make the cruiser limit. Thats the simple reason why heavy weight boxing is now dominated for 30 years by the biggest top heavyweight:
    Lewis-klits-fury

weight is the most important factor in boxing. Thats the reason why this sport is not separated in skill class or height classes but weight classes.

Wright is not the most important. Otherwise Valuev would have been a GOAT.
Or Tye Fields could have at least been a contender.
Hell, if it were all about height and weight, Wlad would not have lost those early fights.

Probably just Bellew thinking about his own career, because 190 would have been perfect for him. Drained AF at 175 and chubby at 200.

It makes perfect sense if your objective is something like, 'making sure we have a weight class that covers every size category that modern man is commonly found in'.

It makes non-sense if your objective is something more like, 'maximising the recognisability of all world champions and the amount of depth of competition in each weight category'.

At some point the shift will come

200 pound men can't compete against 275 pound men

That being said Fury is the first big man who can move so well.

All the other superheavys are flawed & can lose to smaller heavys, hence why AJ got flattened by a 5'10" burrito.

When the heavyweight division has 10 men like Fury 500 years from now then we need a new division.

They need to do something about the gap between LHW and cruiser at some point.
As far as the names go, it's already silly have LHW, then Cruiser, then HW, as LHW should come before HW. So having LHW, then two cruisers, then HW is even sillier.

The problem they have is that people are bigger now but they want the same weight divisions for historical reasons. If they didn't care about keeping the same classes, you just push everything up. The old HW size would fall around LHW-cruiser and then you have this big top end that wasn't there before. But because they want to keep the old weights you have a problem where you can't squeeze the top end into the original divisions properly because it's too top heavy. It's clear to see this problem with the LHW division, which wasn't too far away from the HWs originally, so everything fell into proportion better, but now it's an absurd distance between LHW and HW.

Because the UFC could just work with current sizes and not stick to traditions while everything changed, their system makes more sense, LW, MW, LH, HW ... though the gaps are arguably too wide.

Why? More titles for what? There are already too many. Being a champion now is anyone in the top 10.. And they don't fight each other much.

I assume you pick Kell Brook to beat Terence Crawford, after all he's the bigger man

I don't have a problem with it - the more divisions there are, the more divisions there are for British fighters to conquer and dominate. Also, it'll give LHW Level fighters the opportunity to step up to CW Lite Level and win titles up there and test themselves against a higher level of opposition.

Terrible idea.. Smaller heavyweights will move up to 220 anyway.. A 200 pound guy can beat a 270 pound guy if he has the skills.. look at Hunter vs Bakole or Ustinov... Wilder knocks 260+ guys out with ease, these are heavyweights.

Bellew should go to his wife and kids.

I believe that the Usyk God and Michael ''The Bounty'' Hunter could make CW Lite and that they would dominate there like they did at CW and inevitably will down at HW Level too
