Thanks for respect and critisims guys, I take all on board.. Great points about not falling in love with power too, I brought in good sparring partners for this fight, I can't show any footage as it wouldn't be fair and what happens in the gym stays in the gym unless I hear a fighter say something that didn't happen. I worked on a number of things for this fight and getting rounds in without throwing power shots was one of them, I do have a really arsenal of punches and can do almost anything in a boxing ring. I personally don't see this guy lasting long but I will say I am prepared for a long hard 12 rounds if need be, Once again guys thanks for the comments and support, I always go on about this site it's a great place and I enjoy the debates, banter and digs too..:good Thanks
What did you make of Cleverly on Saturday Tone? Not seen you comment (apologies if I missed it). When the fight was going on you looked like you were in a trance, analysing every move :thumbsup
He done well mate, All on the front foot again but that's how the guy fights, I wish he would just box and use his legs a little more instead of going to war everytime he fights.. Murat is not the best and even slower up close than he looks on you tube. Murat is a bag with arms but one tough heavy bag at that. I'd love to fight him, Murat and Brancalion would be grreat for my next 2 opponents.. Back to Clev and he's a kid going places although I wouldn't personally let him near a puncher of any kind.. He'll outwork any boxer but he has serious flaws if he comes against a puncher BUT eh no one is perfect..:good
:goodYou seem a great guy Tony, looking forward to the fight on Friday. Just a quick question if thats alright mate? I know you fought at HW in the ams and just wondered when not in training what weight do you walk around at? :bbbBomber KO 5 on Friday me thinks
They would, but all being well it looks like you're gonna be a busy boy between now and Christmas without them :good
Tony gives his opinions on Clev, The Mag 7 and Ajisafe in an interview I read today on BritishBoxingNews.com :good
Im 13st 7 pd when I enter the ring on fight night and try not to go any heavier than 13st 10pd or 14st maximum.. I won't go over 13st for this fight as Im possibly fighting again 4 weeks later..:good
If Clev has zero defense, what does Bellew have? Both guys literally stick their chin out there. Bellew has better reflexes to get out of the way, but what happens when he fights a quick puncher? Bellew's a fine prospect, but the real reason this crowd is so pro-Bellew is that he posts here from time to time and comes off as a really good guy. Same phenomenon occurred on the general forum back when Darnell Wilson used to post there. At this point, his level of competition has been about two or three levels below Cleverly's, so we'll see how well he handles the increased competition once he faces it. Also, his issues are mostly fixable, so we'll see if he can fix them. I'd like to see him maybe step up and take someone like Nadjib Mohammedi, who's probably about in line for a Euro title shot as well, or even Danny McIntosh.
Danny McIntosh seems to go down whenever a decent punch is landed even if he's not hurt. Couldn't imagine him lasting long, Ajisafe will probably put up a better fight.
I'm genuinely not the kind of poster to be swayed on a fighters abilities because he posts here either. McIntosh would get annihilated.
Nothing wrong with being swayed by a guy posting here. If we're being honest a lot of us are fans precisely because he does post here because its a class thing to do. Hardly anybody else does it...and the few that do don't give the same kind of honesty and insight.
Tony do you regret not turning pro sooner. If you had gone over a year or two earliar it probably would have been you in Clevs position and him chasing you?
I've also got this gut instinct that Atoli Moore was not as bad as he appeared that night when he got beat in a round. He's probably more a super middle but the way he carried himself and the confidence he had in starting that fight suggested to me he'd probably give a lot of fighters problems. He just got caught with a big shot and didn't quite recover. I reckon he'd test most other light heavies, the Travis Dickinson's of this world.
