I remember reading about this guy in boxing monthly years ago. Sure he was David Haye's debut opponent. Sounded like a right character
He's been out a couple of years at least. I don't know him myself but my grandad does and he trained with my dad sometimes in the late 80s/90s I think. My dad died a couple of years ago and even though he mustn't have seen him for at least twenty years he sent me a copy of his autobiography with a little message in it. Shows he must be a good fella. He told me to YouTube this.... This content is protected hahaha belter. Couldn't imagine travelling to fights on my own with no trainer or anyone. I'd be shitting myself. Setanta was brilliant I thought. Bunce's boxing hour was better then. It was like a car crash every week his presenter couldn't handle him it was hilarious. I remember at that point Setanta had Haye, Calzaghe, etc some good fights I didn't care about the dodgy production.
Thanks for feedback... A great insight into the all important Journeyman that we seen to import these days
He's been out a while. I live in the same satellite town as him and it was only the other night I saw him walking his dog. Seems to be on the straight and narrow now, nice bloke.
Saw him fight in 1992 in Hull when I was in England. It was practically the only fight in the UK while I was visiting so I took a train because I wanted to see a show. It was a “black tie” show in a really fancy hotel ballroom. It was sold out but I somehow got the promoter on the phone and explained I was from the U.S. and really wanted to catch a show so he set me up at a seat along a ringside table (like where judges sit). They introduced me before the show and said I came all the way from America just to attend, haha. Also met Johnny Nelson at that show and Brendan Ingle. Both were super nice.
