I blame 'the gaffa' and his technical advice to tony was 'don't you ****ing start' when Tony started to fire more shots.
The fact he was SO careful can only suggest Bellew doesn't trust his chin whatsoever. Trading would have been stupid yes, but hiding for almost the entire fight has harmed his 'bomber' reputation. The ordinary punters wouldn't have been impressed.
glenn mccrory was doing my head in last night, he sounds more like an armchair fan than a so called expert.
I still maintain that Bellew would be a far better fighter in the high 180's/low 190's. He did a good job on Miranda last night, but he'd be faster, stronger and probably a harder puncher at cruiser.
He completely shutdown Miranda and rendered him useless. Miranda might be past his best but still carries a nasty bite, if Bellew doesnt trust his chin then i cant say his tactics were anything but spot on.
he did seem over courteous but he was in with a big puncher and had a lot on the line! The only problem is - before the fight he was going on about how it wouldnt be good enough to just simply beat Miranda but had to look great doing so. If you compare the way Bute destroyed Miranda to what Bellew did, it doesnt look hugely impressive.
Slight over exaggeration. Give props to Bellew, had he lost this fight his career would have been in tatters so negative tactics were logical. However, he could have blasted Miranda out of there a lot earlier if he had better self belief. Hasn't answered any questions for me. He should move up, I envisage him struggling against anyone that forces him to work.
I agree with this, i also believe that Bellew trusts his chin, it was never a case of good chin or bad chin, if you let a guy like Miranda tee off it need'nt matter. The tactics were spot on and i was largely very impressed with the skills that Bellew put on display... onwards and upwards:good
The fight went as I expected it to. I posted this in another thread: Miranda has never had the best stamina but going for a blowout win would have been pointless. Bellew did exactly the right thing - maybe safety first, I don't know, but you can't fault a guy for getting his gameplan exactly right. Bellew deserves a lot of credit for sticking to the plan and taking out a good opponent.
Nut huggers express. If Bellew didn't post on here (comes across as a good guy btw) would he get the same amount of unconditional love? The guy can't put a foot wrong, some real man crush's going on here.
