Arguello was at his best below LW, so at that weight he wins, at LW Arguello lost a little moving up, Power and a bit of speed, even though he didnt have much to begin with, he was not the same dominate fighter, so Tony at LW by UD, Arguello by TKO at JLW or UD

I don't think the low hands chin in the air style of Canzoneri is going to cut the mustard against Arguello's textbook technique. It's kind of a Barrera vs Hamed stylistic scenario.

Canzoneri is galaxies above Hamed, both skill wise and mentally.

Great post and I'd have to agree @young griffo. I personally think it's be slightly wider for Canzoneri, but you hit the major points.

I think it's be similar to the Ross fights, especially Ross 2, except Canzoneri would be at his best weight and I would consider Ross better than Arguello. Arguello is a bit too 'static' in my mind to fully deal with Canzoneri's style, in a way a Duran type would.

I disagree, Hamed was at a ridiculous level for a few years

And the point stands that Canzi carries his hands low and Arguello could time him and tee off imo

I had forgotten all about this old thread - but revisiting it was a hoot!

Thistle1 trying to argue that Arguello would have been a welter com middleweight back in Canzoneri's time - still one of the funniest things I've read in this forum!
