This is just my third Canzoneri fight, but I've already fallen in love with his style and fights. I was really looking forward to this match, knowing it was FOTY.

    1. Feeling-out round. Canzoneri especially was sizing up Petrolle, not trying hard to fight him. Petrolle.
    6. Petrolle jabbed more effectively of the two. Petrolle.
    8. Both were equal to the task. Canzoneri peppered Petrolle with right crosses. Petrolle.
    14. Slow round. Canzoneri.
    15. Petrolle was terribly exhausted. Canzoneri.

It may look like Petrolle was winning, but with only 5 of 15 rounds on film, that's hardly an accurate representation of the whole fight.

Well, I was seriously disappointed in the available film of this fight. I'm still sure it was a great fight worthy of being declared FOTY though. I wish there was more film available.

Verdict: Supposedly a classic. I will leave this one up to you. My own personal opinion was that it was rather boring. Like I said, I'm sure it was a great fight; just not the rounds we got to see.

Canzoneri looked to be winning the rounds shown to me. Fun to see Petrolle. I heard a lot about the Fargo Express when I was young.

The action back then sure seemed to have been in the lighter weights.

By the way, the commentator here, Marty Glickman, is my favorite of the guys who comment on these old fight films.

The quality is so poor I’ve never even given it the time of day, which sucks because it’s supposed to be the very best of Canzoneri.

I strongly disagree. Whereas in Berg II and Chocolate I, Canzoneri truly looked an ATG, he looked mediocre here imo.
