Round 3 Byrne is one spoiling *******. Constantly plunging his arms down and snaking them around Williams', and jerking him side to side while clasping on with his tentacles fastened around the shorter man's pits. Williams makes do, banging the body on the way in and leaping up with hooks, enough to keep him on schedule in terms of points but he's not finding Byrne's chin as he clearly wants to. 30-27 Williams
Round 4 Byrne flicks a few jabs, then a lazy right haymaker as he turns Williams. Higher output from Byrne in the first minute here than in the first three rounds combined. It gets him countered hard and stunned by a Williams hook, having to hold. Williams comes forward as Byrne abandons the pocket and steps gingerly toward the ropes. Big swings overhand by Williams, and a few shovels to the body. Byrne fish-flops to either side and then forth into Williams, obviously keen to hold. Williams gets his right arm snared in both of Byrne's, who hauls down on it and rests up against Williams as he's thus incapacitated. Williams begins to load up on giant left hooks coming forward and bangs Byrne on the shoulder before getting hugged and pulled back into the ropes. Another big surge by Williams, and another clinch by Byrne. YAY, IT'S OVER!! 40-36 Williams
I'm willing to cut him a break here; Byrne's terrible to look yourself against. He seems to have sound instincts about going to the body. Looks like a strong lad. Could maybe settle down offensively, be a bit more patient and selective in his location. I'd be keen to see him in with a different opponent. Now, Byrne.... :nono
The graphic just said "Coming up: Billy Joe Saunders vs. Jarrod Fletcher for the Commonwealth Middleweight Championship" and I freaked out wondering how the hell that was on the undercard of Conquest vs. Tims when it's much bigger. Then whoever is in charge of the graphics remembered to add the "September 15th" and take away the "Coming up" portion.
Round 1 Baker jabs the body and keeps Walsh backing up nervously with a 1-2 upstairs. Baker falling immediately into an idiosyncratic pattern of attack. Walsh is looking to join the club with Byrne and Balsys, skipping away and covering up. (so more Balsys than Byrne) 10-9 Baker
Round 2 Double jabs to the body by Baker, and a right hand up top. Walsh is stepping around and setting the goalposts, only throwing a few meager shots between Baker's while scampering off through the side door. Baker is snapping the jab out of a high guard, elbows level with his neck. Walsh is refusing to engage but for a few digs in the short exchanges as Baker repeatedly walks him nearly but not quite into a corner. 20-18 Baker
