Boylan is doubling his jab and then letting himself drift in with a lazy right hand follow-up. McKray is scouting the move, timing it with a dip and a forward thrust of his shoulder. McKray really wants to make this scrappy and ugly on the inside. Boyland doubles a jab to the top of the head and McKray reaches around his waistband scrabbling for purchase. Right hand by Boylan sails over McKray's head, and a left hook just glances as McKray pulls straight back while skipping away.

Round 3

Boylan is tumbling into McKray with his fists rolling over each other. Speed bag work, although Boylan isn't exactly dazzling with speed. McKray is dropping his hands and using reflex-based defenses, then leaning in and propping himself against Boylan while chopping at the body, wristing shots. Boylan dances around and flurries at short range.

A better round for McKray.

Round 4

McKray comes hacking in with both hands. Body shots push Boylan back. McKray weaves side to side, swinging his arms up past his chin and down to his side by turn. Boylan is having a hard time hitting him while backing up. A few mean-spirited whacks over the top by Boylan, and McKray just rolls with them and keeps coming, landing body shots and a cuffing shot behind the ear of Boylan. Short uppercut by McKray as they lean together, guard to guard. Boylan shoeshines to the body. McKray backs out and ducks a few straight shots. McKray jabs his way in and grinds into Boylan. Clubbing right. Left hook to the body by McKray. Double uppercut by McKray, pushing Boylan out of the clinch. McKray circles in and out throwing jabs and slipping Boylan's. McKray catches Boylan coming forward in a hold, leaning back against the ropes.

Lewis Pettitt vs. Ian Bailey, 10 rounds @ featherweight for the vacant BBBofC Southern Area title

 

Round 1

Bailey is being first with his jab but letting Pettitt answer at a rate of five to one. Pettitt has faster and busier hands and a bit more poise in there. Bailey grabs him behind the neck and pulls down as Pettitt flashes to the body. Jab and right hand on the back foot by Pettitt. Bailey tries a sloppy dive inside, and Pettitt crosses his arms to block him out.

Round 2

Pettitt drops low and hooks the body. Bailey tries to push him back with double uppercuts, very sloppy. Pettitt crouches and springs with high left hooks and then shrinks away from Bailey's chopping counters. Back and forth from the Box Academy logo at center ring to the ropes they dance. Bailey is forcing the issue with the 1-2 to back Pettitt up, but largely getting caught on the gloves and taking some lumps downstairs

Round 3

Double jab by Bailey, pushing Pettitt back. Now Bailey holds and hits, bowling his right hand into Pettitt's abdomen. Bailey is keeping Pettitt on the ropes and covering up as Pettitt gets a lengthy uppercut combination together. Bailey keeps forcing Pettitt back, getting in lots of light touches to the body while carrying him. Slapping hook by Pettitt. Clinch. Right to the body by Pettitt. Several taps to the body in reply by Bailey. Pettitt starts to load up on an overhand right lead from outside, but Bailey is diving through it with fast drum solos to the body. Pettitt is letting himself get outworked.

Round 4

Pettitt is jogging around and jabbing, then falling in and throwing uppercuts in at the sides of Bailey's head. Bailey jabs and steps to turn Pettitt. Bailey is getting pushed back now. HARD right hand counter by Pettitt over a Bailey jab, hurting him.

Round 5

Bailey is pushing in with uppercuts to the body, and slapping up top as he pitches himself forward intently, using sheer force of will to press into Pettitt and get him to budge. Lots of soft taps to the body by Bailey. Pettitt is getting off with a few jab triplets as he steps around but is under constant pressure and not landing too cleanly with much himself.
