One thing i have to say......i made it a great fight,i made the fight what it was, quigley had a great 30 seconds in the 12th round and a great 2nd round and weather you like it or not that was it,it was my night and even though iam not champion now it feels like iam,iam hopeing for the return but wether it happens is another thing ?i was part of history in liverpool the other night in a night that will be remembered not for him winning the belt but for the night i was robbed of it maybe robbed myself because it was my own fault i didnt see the round out quigley done what he had to to win .But sh.it happens and iam healthy and fit and willing to do it again and give you guys some more great nights i will be back and i aint going to give up after without doubt one of the greatest performances of my carear that is a statement to how good i have improved since i have gone with hayemaker and ADAM BOOTH see you soon guys ,TONY DODSON
I think most people had you winning going into the 12th round. But the fight is 12, 3 minute rounds...so Quigley deserves his moment. Everybody would welcome a return fight.
Great effort Tony, from yourself and Quigley, very entertaining fight. I agree with Bunce, Rawlings and Woddhall's scorecards were far too close, it was one way traffic mosty of the fight but Quigley seemed to find a bit of belief late on when he realised he could do the 12 rounds.
RIGHT he does but if it was the other way round.... i wouldnt want that moment cause i would know i got hammered but what ever init fair play to him
I thought you boxed beatifully mate. I think Quigley is a fantastic talent but I also had you ahead going into the last. Having sat with Gomez, Kev Maree and Steve Wood noddng my head in agreement when discussing his retirement from the sport on friday night I have to say that shouldn't even cross your mind. Your balance and combinatons were spot on and you just got caught by a good shot, from a fair puncher. The fight was one of the great British title fights and as longas it hasn't taken to much out of you i'm sure you'll be back mate... Thats my no BS assessment. :good
Great great fight. Dodson vs Quigley will go down in boxing history as an epic British contest and maybe the most entertaining fight in Liverpool ever. A return fight would be a blessing to us fans.
Enjoyed the fight Tony, there's plenty of encouragement to be taken from that into any rematch. Best of luck coming back from this one :good
That's pro boxing I suppose. Anybody can be winning a fight and get caught/cut by a shot. Like Lewis/Vitali. Or here, you got caught by a good one. Every punch is a danger. If I had to bet on a return I'd put my money on you, I'm not convinced that would happen again because I felt you were in control right through the middle rounds. Any talks of a rematch?
Great fight Tony. I can only echo what others have said, you were winning going into the last and looked good through most of the fight once you'd got going. I'm sure you've got plenty left in the tank. Good luck.
well done mate, youre an asset to liverpol and to boxing, cant wait for the rematch if it happens, sure youll deffo get ure hands on that title again tho mate
great fight tony.only saw it yesterday but i had you ahead goin into the 12th.i dont think there will be a title in the rematch though.i think magee will beat quigley in the meantime
Tony, it was an amazing fight mate. I just don't know he stayed on his feet! The FOUR consecutive left hooks followed by a right uppercut at the end of the 5th was class! The MASSIVE right hand you caught him with flush in the 10th, these are just a couple of examples of skills and power you assaulted him with throughout the fight, it had everything... except for the true winner. In my opinion, this fight was British fight of the year and is on par with Marquez vs Diaz last month! The whole of Liverpool are proud of you. Well Done Tony Dodson!
before another rematch do's brian magee not have to face quigley ??? im sick i missed the fight as my dodgy box no longer has setanta the *******s !!!
Don't be a sore loser. That's boxing. I can play great footbal for 89 mins then concede and it's all over. Boxing is 12 battles that make the war. The opening was cagey, 2nd was all Quigley an from then until the 9th I had it all you. However, Richie got it spot on, Quigley got a second wind and began believing in himself and began to turn it on. Make the rematch and right your wrongs. Thanks for a great fight.
Quigley is good but he didn't impress me. His moves were cute when they worked. He is a middleweight with fat. He is also a bit sloppy. I prefered Dodson's methodical and more orthodox work.
