Tony F ucking Bellew!

Lirva you question my experience as a coach,Let me tell you, I was with 3 of the best coaches in Britain,I have been in 12 round wars with fighters of different styles and also been knocked down,I class that as experience, how many other coaches in Britain have that, Also you question my ability as a coach and yet you have never seen me coach or even been to the gym to watch our sessions so how can you make that assumption. I made mistakes in my own career and possibly neglected the skill factor, obviousley I wont let my fighters make the same mistakes. Some of the keyboard warriors on this forum are having a go at Bellew and probably not one of you understands what its like to take any punch let alone one from a big puncher like Mckenzie ie it takes away your game plan and ur rational thinking and no one is giving Bellew the credit he deserves for not only getting up but going on to win.There is an open letter invitation for Lirva and anyone else to see fist hand our training.

 

I've only watched his last 2 fights admittedly but I've enjoyed both, Ajisaf was a bit of a scrap but the fight against Mackenzie the other day was great and one of the fights of the evening. I think Bellew is good value in interviews too he's not like a lot of these guys who have as much media training as they do in the gym! As well as the fact he and his trainer post on here which being new to the forum I find brilliant, to have someone who is at a good level in the sport here and willing to chat about his exeperiences can only be a good thing. I hope he continues to progress and would love to see him across the ring from Cleverly because no matter what it would be a great fight.

Sometimes its nice to just have a passion without having all the jargon theres plenty on here who do that full time (chat shite that is), Tony I think your the dogs bollocks its that simple and cant wait till your headlining in the city which will be happing very very soon .

 

Well, I respect your accomplishments.

I'm sure you are a good trainer. All of your fighters agree with that sentiment.

However, I think you are the wrong trainer for Bellew. Enzo Maccarinelli should have gone to a better trainer early in his career. He would have gotten better sparing and better technical advice in order to develop his skills. He already had the height and world class power.

Instead he stayed and didn't improve his boxing skills. I can see the same thing happening to Bellew. I just don't think he is learning more technical skills and adding to his strengths. I think mentally he is in the wrong place and is falling in love with his power. A top trainer would not let him get into that mindset and would be getting him focused on his skills and development.

He is 28 now and the last few years were important years where he doesn't seem to have learned much.

I expect this to continue and he will eventually step up to a higher level and get done. Simple as. Then I believe he will switch trainer.

Some trainers are not right for certain individuals and I believe Bellew should get a top amercian trainer NOW because the fundamental ingredients to become a very good fighter and make a lot of money are there. I don't see him improving mentally or skillfully as much as he could with a top Ronnie Shields/Tommy Brooks/Freddie Roach/Buddy McGirt type trainer.

 

Not blowing my own trumpet lirva but I class no yank better than me, ps love listening to Teddy Atlas though the man is top notch in reading a fight.

Maybe Enzo simply wasn't that good aside from his power? You can have any trainer in the world, you can have Jesus himself in the corner, but there are still levels. Enzo stepped up into a higher level against Haye and was out of his depth, simple as that. His confidence was shot after that.

arnie,some of these arseholes aint ever laced on a glove,am or pro or even sparred.

I ain't seen Arnie coach, but the first thing a coach needs with a fighter is a connection with the fighter mentally. He has that with his fighters. I remember when i said Frankie Gavin ain't that great...just wasn't that taken with his first fight but i seen a development in him.

Ok bull**** stoppages aside the lads' really pushed on and that has to be down to Arnie. I'm sure Arnie wouldn't of been happy with Tony's start to the last two bouts and will look to sort that. He's willing to learn i can see his enthusiasm for his fighters and the sport so leave the fella alone. He's to easy a target just because he's young coach and on here.

I think a lot of people are missing the improvement that Tony made between the Ajisafe fight and the McKenzie fight. Instead of getting frustrated and going for the KO with every punch he got behind his jab and got some rounds under his belt. Obviously there is a lot of improvement to be made and he can't be getting up off the canvas in every fight but you can't expect miracles in less than 3 months.

So here's a novel idea - Go to the gym, go and introduce yourself, put some gloves on and see how long you last. Even video it and put it up here.

If you ARE really as hard as your posts sound you won't be afraid of doing that. . . . . . . . . . . .

I'm a bit worried by the amount of attention that Bellew and his trainer are paying to these boards. Don't get me wrong it's great of them to come on and interact with the fans but I hope they don't get distracted by it or take it to heart. They should just focus on their careers and to hell with what everyone else thinks.

 

At 1.67 and 0.17 posts per day respectively - I don't think there is too much danger of them being distracted
