What do you guys think about him?

I think he would knock out or submit McGregor quite easily, and in the lightweight division he is the only guy who has a real chance against Khabib

Ferguson starts slowly and gets hit a lot. Even against the 229 version of McGregor, there's every chance Conor sleeps Tony with his left before Tony even gets going. Taking it to the ground would be Ferguson's best shot -- more so than trying to ride out McGregor's initial onslaught and waiting for him to gas midway through the second, in my opinion.

And if we're talking about hypothetical matchups, I wouldn't mind seeing Tony Ferguson vs Max Holloway, assuming Max is done with 145 and moving up. That'd be a great clash of styles.

Ferguson is easily my favourite fighter. An absolute warrior with great skills. He would OWN McGregor imo. We need to see him against Khabib asap.

Tony would beat Conor before they even set foot in the Octagon, just like he did with Kevin Lee.

McNuggets no longer seems to want that smoke, because I think, deep down, he knows he doesn't really have the desire anymore and knows Tony would tool him. As it is, McGregor probably won't be back until UFC 250 to rematch Khabib and get smashed again. I called this a few days after 229, and I'm sticking to it. :sisi1

Lee gave Tony fits. A very underrated fighter is Kevin.

He also seems to have a rough time getting down to 155, which may have taken something out of him for that fight. Quite how some of these guys make 155 is anyone's guess.

    Agreed.

The state of weight-cutting in MMA is a joke. I don't think anyone should be 10-12lbs over the division they're campaigning in.

I'm a fan of Fergurson but he should have taken the Holloway fight and there is no reason for him not to take the interim title fight ,which with a puts him amongst the best current P4P fighters and guarantees him more big money fights including a guaranteed title shot with Khabib.

Khabib vs tony would be a smashing. Mcgregor vs tony would be a better fight but tony gets him way to much. I’ll take khabib or Mcgregor over tony.

Matches up with Holloway better then khabib. I’d still favor holloway.

    No,
Tony is just not that technical on his feet and his defense is his offense and pressure.

Tony is great. He grew up in Muskegon Michigan, which is close enough to Grand Rapids that I root for him based on geography. I actually have a shared BJJ lineage with Tony's first grappling coach. But even if he was from Antarctica I would be a fan.

I remember Dan Hardy once compared Tony's ground game to trying to hold down a mountain lion, or something to that effect. That's a perfect comparison. He's hard to take down, and once you do get him down, you're dealing with elbows thrown off his back while trying to stay out of triangle chokes or avoiding getting swept. And the moment Tony get's a chance, he pops to his feet like he has pogo sticks attached to his knees.

    Rewatch the fight.

Took him down a bunch, too.
