He was over credited actually. He fought many guys with losing records and has totalled over 50 guys he fought who lost their previous fight which would be mocked at today. Good marketing and a brawling style is what sold him. He knocked down Louis twice but Louis kryponite is he didnt like swarmers and left himself open for right hands always. People talk about tonys skills but im not one to see to that extent people talk of? looking down his record just now to see exactly whats going on ,i cant say hes more than a journeyman otherwise i would lose credibility for my standards.

Details are lost over time. Galento was a feared puncher in his day. His hook was hellacious. No one then or now thought of him as a skilled boxer. His power however set him apart.

    Baer TKO'd Tony.

The combined record for the other 3 monsters he did defeat was 25-30-4!

I guess the same as a fighter named Dempsey who also said Galento was a drunk ,not that good and didnt deserve a shot at Louis. Are you going to spute more nonsense ,maybe how skilled Galento was ? Man i HOPE so. lol

Yes being the number one contender didn't entitle him to a title shot! lol I won't bother asking for a primary source for this,no point in getting another unverified "quote" from a hack who doesn't even sign his real name! Unlike my sources that are named and detailed !

My post is to show that Galento could KO big men.
Not that Galento could KO the best big men.

Also, I think modern records are much more padded.
Important to keep in mind imo.
