Chin makes the difference here. Tony could take Bob's best. The reverse isn't true. Bob would play the mobile cutie here, and try boxing his way to the decision behind his height and reach. But at some point, sooner or later, one of Galento's hooks would reach his chin, and Two Ton would only need one to decide the outcome. Galento was not a wind up round house batter with his hook, and didn't need much room to unload it like Marciano did. It was a short, quick thud. He decked Louis by beating Joe to the punch. Tony may have looked like a beer barrel, but he was loaded with fast twitch muscle fibers, to go with his cast iron jaw. Enormous thick legs added to the force he could generate from his trunk. (I don't know what his calves measured, but they look huge.) Is noted for having a fine double jab when he chose to use it. He may have appeared superficially like a caricature, but the reality of his power, quickness and toughness made him a far more serious entity than what his physique suggested. Training footage reveals him to have been very well coordinated, surprisingly light on his feet while skipping rope, and adept on the speed bag.
As you say, chin makes the difference here, neither was a dedicated trainer , Satterfield liked the broads,Galento the booze.
