Gentleman Gerry Cooney fights the rough, vicious Galento.
10 heavyweights at MSG. Two big left hands.

Tony was more durable, Big size difference but Tony could wack, Cooney started fast...But If Tony stays it could spell trouble for Gerry...Cooney had a decent jab...but Tony could catch you with an awkward shot....I go with Tony

Galento was far too small. Cooney by mid round ko.

In a bar, I would say that Galento had a chance?????? But in the ring, Cooney was far superior with his experience and amateur background and Galento was too small, slow and easy to hit!

i see cooney blowing the fat man away within a couple of rounds. galento, whilst a tough cookie had very little skill and cooney, for all his faults could really whack

Gallento was actualy prety adept at dealing with bigger heavyweights both as an amateur and profesional, and professed to prefer them over smaller opponents.

I would add that although he was small he certainly had enough power to put Cooney away.

I don't see Galento as having a chance here. Cooney was a genuine contender with decent skills, great power, size, a well polished jab and hook, and could start quickley. Galento doesn't land a meaningful shot, before Cooney demolishes him.

    Wasn't Galento 5'9?

Cooney was 6'6 with a 81' inch reach...

Galento didn't even have a skill advantage over Max Baer, lame as that might sound.

Agreed. Cooney's skills are under rated.
