hahaha just for fun ofcourse ali would the fight, but i am sure tony would land one or 2 nice hooks because that was his best shot and it was the shot that ali the most..... but the press conference and the talking would be the best part, imagine that 24/7 non stop gentlemenly behaviour also would a scrap happpen at a press conference also during the fight ali would do his talking but would some nice low blows and head butts shut him up lol
The press conference would indeed be something to behold. Ironicaly, Gallento was an early proponent of Ali being one of the few people who picked him to beat Liston before the event.
Galento: Quick fists with a deficient reach, superb hook, granite chin and some susceptibility to cuts. Sounds like Jerry Quarry. Unlike Jerry, Tony would never get psyched out by Ali, and wouldn't gas as a result of getting his head messed with. Like Wepner nearly did, Two-Ton could actually last the championship distance if not stopped by facial damage. I do in fact believe Galento would repeat fellow left hooker Chuvalo's two time feat of going the distance against a prime GOAT without hitting the deck. This was a really tough man who went over 100 fights without getting floored in an era of six ounce gloves.
i couldn't see ali getting hit many times but i could see galento bleeding a lot and getting stopped around round 8.outside on the cobbles is another matter
I think Galento would get Ali on the ropes and give him the beating of his life, batter him with hooks worse than Joe Frazier did.
True. I've got some clippings from late 1963 where Galento says Clay can beat Liston with his speed and movement. I've also seen an Ali interview from probably the 70s where Ali's listing a few of the of the great heavyweights of all-time, he mentions Tony Galento in there with the likes of Marciano and Tunney..
