Hes skilled but hes also one of the more fragile fighters ive ever seen. If he had his grandpa toughness he would be a top pound for pound fighter.
This may sound dumb but here me out. If you ever look, Harrison has a huge head on a small neck. So he seems top heavy and cant absorb the chin shots due to his heavyweight head on his JMW shoulders.
He's also very tall, long, and skinny. Much more so than his opponent usually. So when the fight is transitioning between the mid-short range game that added height becomes a detriment as it adds a whole lot of leverage into his opponents punches and is a very unfavorable angle to get hit from. And when he has been dropped and stopped his chin has usually been up and open. It's quite confusing because he's usually got great positioning, awareness, and fundamentals and then all of a sudden *boom* pimp down. I think most fighters would be dropped and stopped if they were hit with the same shots with the same angles as Harrison. I don't think its so much a physically thing as it is a fixable lapse type issue. His build though, especially from the shoulders up, certainly isnt built to absorb great punishment.
I dont care though, I love him as a fighter. He's a class act, BEAUTIFUL to watch, incredibly skilled, incredibly talented and gifted....... He really is a fantastic fighter and dude.
It’s his stamina more than his chin.. Before Jermell I’m his fights against Hurd and Nelson he was winning in similar fashion as last night and was caught by both in the 9th.. That’s why the first Charlo fight he fought timid most of the fight and picking his shots carefully.. This fight he was saying he’s gonna KO and unfortunately that style is not good for him in the long-run of a fight as that’s the style Jermell wanted him to fight.. Harrison vs Lara is what I want to see next. Julian Williams still has to prove that the Hurd fight wasn’t a one-time thing because after the big Charlo fight he looked average against Ishe Smith and Gallimore..
