theres so many very good british fighters out there and i dont like to be out of order but ive watched him and hes got all the reasons why he aint doing it and you can see frank malony losing the plot put him in with anyone half good and hes getting done
I think he is better than he has shown so far. I think he would perform better with a better opponent. The top class amatuers can struggle early on with the opponents who try and mess and spoil because usually for the last few years of there am career the style of boxing is very technical. That said Kenny would be his worst nightmare because he would compleatly bully him.
Throw him in with Anderson next. Fighting ****ers like he is at the moment are getting him nowhere. To me he cant seem to get up for fights.
Didn't he fight Anderson as an amateur? I think he has done the right thing by going to Brooks and getting out of Sunderland but he is still fighting like an amateur. He has no inside game and never uses the jab but he did look a bit more composed early in the fight which his trainer said he had been working on. Judging by the post fight interview I think Maloney is getting frustrated and will throw him in with the Lions soon and then we will know exactly what he's got.
Well Maloney cant afford to keep putting him in with journeymen for the next 2 years. Jeffries will be thrown in with a good fighter soon. Jeffries needs to relax in the ring and take his time. Stop bum rushing - he simply doesnt have the accuracy to pull the bum rushing tactics off.
I think it is time for Jeffries to get thrown in. Quigley would have been good even a comeback injury plagued version. Wouldnt fancy his chances against Mendy. Somebody like Dilks would be a good measure.
With so much recognisable talent in and around this weight class i don't know why we can't get a domestic tournament made. Jeffries Dilks Quigley Fielding Anderson Smith Mendy Reid Obviously not an elite bunch but an eight man tourney over nine months with a shot at the British title would attract some interest. Somebody pitch it
Dilks would be a really tough fight for him IMO. Granted, he's not exceptional in any department but ticks most boxes, assuming he comes in to the fight in better shape than Prizefighter he ought to be favourite to beat Jeffries. Still, if he wants to be winning titles of any kind he needs to be beating the likes of Dilks in the near future. If he can't do it now...... it'll never happen. Should be in him prime at 25/26.
I think it would be a good fight for both lads,to be honest kevin, kennys last two opponents are just ticking over fights and would have learnt nothing, fighting jeffries would bring more out of kenny who imo is a LHW as well, kenny would beat him at this time.
It seems fairly obvious to me that Anderson is marking time in hope of a shot at Groves. I think Kenny would beat Jeffries at the moment. The frustrating thing about Jeffries is that all the things he does wrong seem so easy to fix. He crowds his work terribly and falls in as soon as he tries to load up. Kenny would back him up and brawl, maul and generally out box him. If jeffries could set stuff up with jab and not fall in after every shot he might have a chance I just don't see why he can't fix this. They need to tie his feet together and put on the rocky soundtrack in training or something. Must be his back foot that is the problem.
I'm sure you could. To be honest I would think I could (and that is saying a lot!!!) It just appears to me that he doesn't listen and perhaps wasn't humbled enough by the bambula draw. In his post fight interview he looked like a man that is deaf to criticism and makes excuses for himself. Personally I think he lacks confidence and is over-compensating.
Jeffries just didn't seem to care that much, either. When Maloney criticized the performance he got defensive and said he was happy to get the eight rounds in, but you don't learn that much from simply making up the numbers for eight rounds. He didn't seem that fussed about trying anything new, changing the pace or anything. Maybe he needs the incentive of a more threatening opponent, but I was very disappointed with him on Saturday, surprisingly so. I used to like him, but he seems just to be playing at it, trading too heavily off his amateur rep and doing nothing to build a fanbase now that he is pro. I think he needs something like the Anderson fight, as fighting as his current level is no good for anyone, but I think Anderson would walk through him if he fights anything like he did on Saturday.
What do you actually mean by this? He is trying - changed trainer/got out of Sunderland which was suggested by most here. He is always kicking about Sunderland, i.e. keeping his face in the local paper in order to keep his current fanbase!
