Tony Jeffries to fight..............

A BoxRec boxing fan because he doesn't know - like the rest of us - or give a **** who Tommy Tolan is? Who cares? He's 4-3, 37 years old and only recently back from a 5 year retirement. The only interesting thing on his record is the fact he beat Banbula. 5 years ago. Not interested.

 

5 years ago over 4 rounds, by 1 point. Means **** all mate

 

Well I wasn't expecting a top opponent for him next anyway. Confidence booster with a new trainer.

 

I didn't say it was more important, I said it was more interesting in the fact they have a common opponent and Jeffries drew with him while Tolan got the win, albeit over 4 rounds by a single point 5 years ago.

If his KO victory over a 2-0 'highly-rated' [can't have been that highly rated, doesn't exactly look great - abeit better than the sloppy, wild Tolan in the video but evidently less seasoned and can't take a dig] McDonagh is the best thing on his record, that says it all.

Nothing but a fight in a bid to stay active, get back in the ring, build confidence and try some new techniques learnt from Brooks. Jeffries inside the distance, and nobody will watch or care.

 

in all fairness lad mcdonagh is a decent prospect ...decent am but too early to tell how good hell be as pro
jeffries should win handily enough but one thing is for sure if tolan lands he will definately test his chin

 

This one has my heart racing...phew.

 

Banbulas asset is his awkwardness which is gained through experience. This guy beat him in banbulas second fight over four. It's safe to assume banbula is a completely different fighter now.

There is no way round it - jeffries is going nowhere fast

 

He should rematch the guy he drew with straight away and put it right. He'd get his confidence back that way.

 

Will this be on PPV?

 

Let's not be too harsh, the fight is what it is-a comeback to try some new moves and regain confidence. We all know tony is quite limited but if he needs this to clear his head before rematching banbula in the next 2-3 fights then so be it.

Lets look at him in a years time. If he hasn't challenged for/won a commonwealth/English belt by then well it's unlikely he'll get much further IMO

I made a thread earlier asking about this tae mate . I seen it on his facebook .Just wondering what card it was on .Is it Simpson Lindsay ?? I don't think his last performance was that good it was a draw I think and Cleverly was in with the commentry .I think it was Jeffries not 100 percent (infact it was just read the bottom article computers going slow) .He's in LA now tho training manI think .Seen pics of him with Khan and that man Roach ( Roach I think )

on a personal front, tony looks and is a very personable fellow, he's brave also, but unfortunatly he doesen't have the talent, to go out of domestic level, If you need to go to L.A. to fight tommy tolan, plus what great faith his trainer has in him to agree to an oponnent at that level, could he not fight tony quigly? he's , smaller, not a ko specialist, and if he done some good he could then feel good in paying his us trainer.:think:good
