Good post and I really hope he gets straight back in the gym tidy his game up and show them skills that won him an Olympia bronze.

But you can sprinkle it with glitter(olympic bronze medal) to give the impression he is better than he is.

Criticism should fuel him not prompt him to upload a down in the dumps 10 min video.

Tyson Fury ****ing gives it large big time. Nevertheless, put Fury in with an average guy like Banbalalalaauab and he would ko him even if he is out of shape. He was horribly out of shape versus McD. At that level talent alone should beat these guys. Seeing as Jeffries isn't super talented he needs to work harder.

No but should I hurl abuse at him? Maybe he doesn't work hard enough in the gym, maybe he isn't the brightest but he clearly is a nice guy who wants to give a good show and he is in a very tough Sport and I don't know about you but I don't believe in knocking a man whilst he is down.

The thing is, he seemingly doesn't even take ANY form of criticism on board. He seems to think if you criticise you are a 'hater'. He even went to the extreme of deleting negative comments.

I await the name change to; Tony 'Jaffa Stalin' Jeffries. Perhaps he lacks the killer instinct to carry Joseph's name though.

I admit he has gone overboard on a fair bit of this and constructive criticism is helpful but people are calling him a bum and telling him to retire which is just disrespectful and well over the top. And to be honest you can just tell that he is majorly under confident right now to me he looks like someone that cannot even handle it at the moment.

He needs to spend an hour with Johnny Nelson, or just read his book.

If that can't motivate a fighter that is down or heading in the wrong direction then that's the time to give up.

That sort of **** is way overboard but it became clear after the King fight that he didn't react well to any criticism of any kind. Saying that though, I've met him and he's a top bloke so I hope he can come back from this and prove his many doubters wrong.

Its hard to say unless we are in their position but too often do these guys have a break after a fighter. It will undo everything they did in the gym in terms of health. I can understand the breaks for someone like Hatton but someone like Jeffries should be back in the gym the following Monday. His fights are nothing more than glorified sparring sessions.

It is the end of the season until September so thats probably why he has gone on holiday. He has a lot of thinking to do.

I'm not going to join in with the Jaffa bashing as he comes across as a genuinely affable bloke and I also don't like the 'kick 'em whilst they're down' culture that British society seems to revel in. I have, however, stumbled across this and I think it's relevant to this thread:

    http://www.journallive.co.uk/newcas...us-move-following-fight-farce-61634-26930062/

I hope there is some substance to this. Would make sense if he just got his head down in Yankland away from all of the distractions he has at the moment where he is just going to be treated like any other fighter in the gym and city. He definately needs it, but, judging by his reaction to the fight on the weekend, I'm not sure he's had as big a reality check as he should have had. Who knows, though. Maybe he's just going to go to a few gyms to coincide with his holiday over there and it's a non-story. I really want the guy to succeed, but he's going to need to take a look at himself and decide if he really wants to put in the sort of work that his contemporaries do if he is to do well in this game. He also needs to take criticism onboard and not try to subjugate it with the cries of yes men and women on Twitter who he only wants there to blow smoke up his ass.

Although he got stick for it at the time when he said it, Eubank was spot on about the Olympians a few years ago. I hope someone with a high standing in British boxing, such as Eubank, gets the chance to talk to him one-on-one very soon as Jeffries needs to take on as much advice and criticism that he can at the moment.
