Oops. Was last light a blip, or is he the first Olympian to fall?

If you've watched all his fights you will know it was no blip. He's a very average talent who would be getting no attention if it wasn't for his bronze medal. Maloney should just chuck him in with Groves or DeGale now.

By the sounds of things I'm guessing that Maloney's original plan when he signed Jeffries was to give him 9 or 10 fights then feed him to Sutherland.

Probably. Warren must be well pleased he didn't sign Jeffries.

I wonder if Jeffries ability to shift tickets will be affected by him being taught somewhat of a lesson by a journeyman last night, I really don't rate him but this could be the best thing to happen to him.

I've just watched the Jeffries fight. No improvement once again. They need to get him off these Sunderland cards. He's crap anyway mind you, but doing this might help him.

I think I called this one well last night! Banbula is a confidence fighter and he gave him too much belief early on. I think he'll have a rematch with Banbula and if he doesn't improve enough to win comfortably then he's really not going anywhere.

I have a feeling he will fight Travis Dickinson in a North-East derby soon.

Didn't Warren almost sign him? I can't remember exactly what happened, but didn't he turn down an offer with FW cos Fight Academy offered him an absolute fortune. I think he signed with them, but something happened and he went running back to Warren with his tail between his legs asking for the same deal he offered as before. FW said no dice and he signed with Maloney, who at the time seemed quite pleased and bragged that he had 'the best of the olympians.'

That didn't turn out right, did it?:patsch

I may be wrong, but I think it went like that.

I think Fight Academy were close to doing a deal with Setanta to cover their stable (basically Woods and whoever else they could get) and signed Jeffries on that basis.... though I might be wrong.

Going to Maloney is proven to be a disaster - probably because little Frank was chosen as a last resort he thought he'd milk him for a bit with all the rabid fans.... and then bring him on properly but it's not worked.

The warning signs should have been there after the King fight and corrected - they weren't and he was lucky to escape with a draw last night against a similar level opponent.

As an aside, I wonder if the lad is kicking himself this morning - if he'd take the fight to Jeffries a bit earlier he might have got the win (and maybe stoppage).

He has been brought along very poorly but that's not all to blame he got the draw last night because of stamina, he was gassed and doing cardio work has nothing to do with a torn bicep. I bet if he was with FW he would have gotten a kick up the arse a long time ago.

I was thinking that as soon as he started making those excuses after the fight.
