Who saw Toney Lopez getting grilled by Judge Judy sometime back? He`s a bail bonds guy, does that mean he wasn`t financially secure after winning his world title?
Don't wanna have that judicial ***** giving any **** to Tony the Tiger...one of my favorite fighters ever.
Yes, that must have been around ten years ago. I felt sorry for the bloke, she really tore him a new one.
Hmm, surprised to learn he's not financial set if that's the case. I read an old issue of Ring or KO magazine from near the end of his career where he indicated he was set and had several investments that he expected to make him more money than fighting. I think it was something to do with towing cars but I'm not sure. Sounds like it went belly up.
I remember it. Tony didn't have his paperwork right. She has no patience. Judy even sais "You've had your 15 minutes of Fame Mr. Lopez!!!!" Tony just laughed it off. Her Bailiff is from Sac so he probably told her later that Tony didn't need her show.
A bail bondsman has to have money — someone who is let out on bail arranges a loan to pay bail and the bondsman has to put up the full amount to guarantee the accused’s appearance in court. Usually the bond is 10 percent ... so if the accused is bonded out at $10K, he pays the bondsman $1K and the bondsman fronts the $10K in escrow to the court. Presuming he has multiple clients (and he has as that’s his business), at any given time he probably has six figures or more tied up as guarantee money with the court.
Why do people expect former boxers to all be super rich guys who don't want or need to work for a living anyway ? Yeah, they might earn big money for a few years but they are usually done with boxing at about 35 or 36, so it's unlikely they're be set up for life. Also, even people with money like to work or run business rather than sit around getting bored.
