Lol just did a quick search on this fight and you started 2 threads on this in 2010 and I did in 2012....none of our previous 3 threads got many responses...I think a total of 13 lol. Apparently you and I are in the minority of thinking about this fight.

I thought it would be close in 2010 responding to your post....but in the past 9 years, I think Mancini would be bigger and stronger. While I think Lopez is better and better skilled, I think Ray would win a close decision.

Mancini was a better fighter than Lopez and I would heavily favor him if the two fought.

Two little headstrong bulls in the ring. But Boom Boom superior strength at LW and determination prevails and in a war of attrition Mancini wins on pts.

I'd go Lopez all day everyday! He'd pummel Mancini. Pummel him into submission!

Mancini. Unless it's in Sacramento, then Lopez by decision as long as he's standing by the end of the fight.

What fights in Sacramento do you feel Lopez won that he did not deserve? I can’t stand Pacheco for starting this narrative all those years ago

Heheheheheh. We did this already man, about a month ago. Molina 1 (I know you disagree, but I scored it for Molina), Mitchell 1, and while I haven't seen it myself, Thobela as well. Whether or not they were out and out robberies isn't the point. On my card (and at least a few of the magazines at the time, who, at least to my knowledge weren't in bed with Pacheco), Lopez got the benefit of every possible doubt. He was a total homer.

Respect you man! But disagree with this. There is a big difference between winning a close decision and getting ones you don’t deserve. I personally think all 3 scores were accurate, but also acknowledge they were close. But winning a close decision is a testament to a boxer saying he got gift decisions he didn’t earn is disparaging to a boxer.

The first Molina fight was close with the commentators having like a 4-2 lead for Molina. When Pacheco calls the second fight he is telling people Molina swept the first 6 rounds in fight 1. I had it 3-2-1 w/Molina up 3 by virtue of a 10-8 round 5. I ended up Lopez by 4. 2 judges had it by 1 the other by 4. I can’t see Molina earning better than a draw in the most generous scenerio.

The 3rd fight was a SD and cards will likely be split. I edged Lopez and the Late KD was the difference on my card. I do think he was in some close fights....but I don’t think they were gifts by any stretch.

I thought Mitchell 1 was a draw and while Thobela did deserve the rematch he was not active enough in the first.

I hate that Tony gets pissed on
Like this all the time (not meaning you). I think he was a tough limited warrior but deserves better than he gets on here.

I hear ya, but we both know that if those fights happen anywhere but Sacramento, he doesn't walk away with the rosy record he had. He even joked about that preferential treatment in a KO Magazine interview himself, basically saying "Hey, why would I fight anywhere else?"

I'm not gonna argue back and forth about whom you thought won a given fight, you have an educated and sharp eye, and are entitled as anyone to your opinion. But his homerism was a matter of record back then that everyone in boxing knew about.

Tony Lopez has always gotten a lot of respect on this forum. If anything, maybe too much, instead of not enough.

Mancini too big and strong for Tony at 135 lbs. Ray outmuscles Lopez for a clear UD

Not sure I have read the same threads? I generally see him picked to lose...unless of course it was in Sacramento lol.

But on this front while I think he is more skilled but Mancini is naturally larger and stronger and that will see him to a decision in Ohio or sacramento
