I agree Zale was better but that doesnt mean he beats Bennie in what I imagine would be a battle in the trenches.
    Still thinking this over

Comfortably better. He'd decision Briscoe in a hard fought tussle, tho it's not completely impossible he stops him. Zale was a great fighter who could really punish the body and suck the life out of an opponent.

Yeah, this isn't a clear cut deal here...Briscoe was murderous with pressure and body punching as well...a tough fight here.

Briscoe give a proper beat down. I love Zale but he is a bit overrated and rather a one-trick pony.

    ,
    Bennie lost to
    Rodriguez x2
    Griffith
    Vinales
    Shaw
    Marshall
    Hayward
    Rondon
    De Lima
Among others, clever boxers with mobility bothered Zale, one dimensional come forward guys were his meat.
    I think Zale edges him.

I can't see Zale, as good as he was, withstanding that right hand that Bennie nailed Monzon with....or for that matter, many other middleweight champions of the past as well.

On the other hand, Bennie wouldn't be dealing with those type, i.e., clever boxers in Zale.

Also for what it's worth. Briscoe came forward, but he also leaned forward...with elbows tucked. If you were going to get to his body, you would have to reach for it. Briscoe was not a champion, and wasn't consistent...but on the form that he beat Eddie Gregory with...I think that version, and the version that fought Monzon on film...would beat Zale in an upset.
