Tony Margarito vs. a prime Vargas

Vargas - because he's bigger, stronger, more skilled and just plain better.

The Vargas that fought Quartey or Tito would rip Tony up.

 

Prime Vargas would have won head to head, but I'd argue that in terms of legacy, Margarito is the 'greater' fighter, if you ignore the hand wraps thing.

Regardless, I don't think many would rank Margarito as a greater fighter than Vargas in the p4p all time list.

 

Vargas late TKO or ahead by 4 points in a war.

 

With or without bricks?

 

Vargas, no doubt. Pretty easily too. Margo would get a boxing lesson and perhaps even stopped later in the fight unless Vargas gets Tito'd with a low blow. This is coming from a fan of both fighters.

 

I think you should allow Margo to have bricks in both hands if you allow Vagras to use PED's like he did for the DLH fight...

 

Vargas beats him. Vargas has skills, speed, good defense, power and a very good chin. I know people will disagree with the chin part but these people are just ignorant in my opinion, the man was dropped by Trinidad and went toe to toe with Trinidad and this is Trinidad we're talking about, a murderous puncher. I wouldn't judge the DLH fight because he cheated in that one. Vargas can box when needed, has good defense and can cut off the ring. Margarito is way too predictable for Vargas, I expect Vargas to win a UD or TKO. Even the toe to toe battles I expect Vargas to win.

Things could obviously be different if Vargas came in on roids and Margarito with concrete in his gloves. Though still I see Vargas winning that. Margarito had to stuff his gloves to go life and death and lose against the smaller opponents he made a career fighting.

 

Vargas rapes him for sure.

 

Vargas has one of the things that Mosley had. The ability to stop Margarito coming forward with his own sheer strength. That, on top of the other abilities Vargas have which have been listed above leads me to think Vargas would stop him. Maybe sooner than Shane, just maybe.

 

Vargas could box beautifully, but lured into a brawls when he didn't have to. Either ways prime Vargas beats Margo in every dept, except the chin. Vargas by UD.

That guy rolled along in one of the toughest eras in boxing history and did himself proud. If you look at his record he beat some amazing opposition and went damn near the distance with legends. Guys I don't think Margo could ever beat.
