What's the point? the idiot is claiming he is mandatory - however what in boxing is mandatory? boxers throw away belts like disposable camera's and should pride themselves on fighting the best!!!!

there are about 10 better machups for vladdy than this pile of crap.

i'll be checking the result on sunday - have better things to do with my life than watch this tosh.

    thanks for hearing my rant!!!

Mandatories these days often are pointless fights in my opinion. Since the proliferation of titles fighters that would have been top contenders and mandatories are now belt holders as well. So mandatories are often guys that are outside the top 10. So if a fighter avoids their mandatory it is no longer such a negative thing.

In Tony's defence , the guy has'nt lost for something like 7 years , and being ranked as the mandatory for a couple of years almost. I think to call him a ' bum ' is unfair. Thompson will come to fight at least.

Hey don't blame Thompson. Blame the guy who fights twice a year. It's Waldo's job to defend his title against mandated challengers. And it's also his fault that of two fights we see in 2008, one will likely be his mandatory.

That's just the way it is. For Toney's part, he is better than most mandatories out there and isn't a bad fighter. I at least believe he'll come to fight, unlike a couple of Wlad's recent opponents.

I can't blame Wlad though- the only way he can silence some very hardcore critics (haters in some cases) is to unify any and every belt he can. The minute he lost a belt by not fighting a mandatory, they'd be crucifying him for it. It's on Wlad to take on mandatories, unify when possible, and be more aggressive/exciting in doing it. Anything less and the critics are still going to be there.

That's not exactly the best way to unify and unifying is what everyone has asked him to do for a long time now.

I have to agree with the dissapointment in the calibur of challenger. There are much more interesting fights to be made. If Wlad insists on fighting all madatories, he should fight more often. He could dispatch of guys like Thompson without much training at all. Just take as a sparring session in whcih he gets millions. He doesn't need half a year to get ready for this.
