    **** flaps

Maybe a bit premature at #4 wbo, but apart from froch, he is the number 2 smw in brtain, and he will prove it on the 30th

i do hope you are not another one of these divs who is going to start telling me the kenny anderson is the next big thing at smw.
Look, i am not about to say that he has beaten many fighters that would be considered top guys. But who in the smw british scene has? Smith has been taking on guys with winning records, and has gone on record stating he wants to fight the "names" such as any of the top guys like barker, or elcock when he was fighting out of the mw division.
He is not a dodger, and is maybe suffering because frank warren does tend to err on the side of caution.
The thing is that it is all about opinion. I have seen plenty of smith, and whilst i would be the first to admit that sometimes it hasn't all come together, when it does, he looks different class.
I guarantee that when it matter, like next friday, he will bring it, and quilgye will be out of his depth

**** flaps???? I made that up all by myself!

I'll tell you now lad i'm not a div as you say, but Smith has not done enough at SMW for you to be callin him the best in this country behind Froch.

You state there that he has been takin on guys with winning records???? Please tell me who you are talkin about because i fail to see these guys on Smith's record!!! Am i missing somethin????

Also how many fights has Smith had at SMW?? He never fulfilled potential at MW so how can you call him #2 at SMW i don't know.

I said in an earler post that he has become stagnent under FW ......... would you agree with that statement??? The lad has had 28 fights now & been a pro for somethin like 7 years & FW is still yet to put him in there with real opposition!!

Its ok sayin he has gone on record callin people out but sort it with your promotional team 1st & try and make these fights happen.

I have seen quite a bit of Smith myself but feel he has done nothin in my opinion for people to still be goin on about him that he's gunna do this and that ......... maybe 5 years go i would have agreed with it but not now. He is no longer a 'prospect' but now a fighter with 28 fights and 1 loss and in my opinion not fought that many noteable opponents.

I agree that its all about opinion, and that is my opinion

And i respect your opinion, and there are certain parts of it that i can't argue with, and that i would have agreed with before this debate, such as him maybe becoming stagnant under frank warren, and not being matched as cometitivley as he is capable of being matched
The thing is that Paul himself is critical of his performances, and that on certain occasions he has not made the best of opportunities.
Opponents with winning records. Where shall is start. Jonathan reid, cello renda, danny thornton, rashid matumla, michael bilak, francis cheka, alenxander polizzi, ryan walls, dean walker, he ended the carrer of rob burton. Ok, if you look at the start of his pro record, a lot of them were journeymen, and tune up fights. But most prospects have these same names on their early record.
Also look at it from this point of view. These guys that he has beaten, especially the ones who have the winning records, couldn't beat him. And when he lost, it was to Bendall, and widely regarded as the most ludicrous decision of 2008. He is a man to beat currently.
Is it his fault that his promotor and match maker have matched him like they have, no. Could he have gone to another promotor and got his opportunity earlier, yes probably. But he has his opportunity now, and it is put up or shut up time.
By the way, how many fights did Khan have at light welter, before he became wba champion?

Anyway, to go back to the point, how is it you see him losing to Quigley? What has he got in his locker to damage and trouble paul?

Don't start with Khan mate, we all know why he got a shot .......... FW politics!!!!!
Same reason Smith is #4 in WBO rankings

Anyway i think the fight will be very very close & competative, and i'm really lookin forward to it. I just think Quigley may be that little bit more determined (i know you will disagree as you will say its Smith's shot at bigtime), just feel that Smith's performances of late have not impressed me at all.

On paper Smith should be the fav, more experience ..... according to you better opponents, supposedly better KO power. But as i've mentioned i think Smith will yet again underperform, and if Quigley performs like he did against Dodson i see him winning.

Incidentally i think Dodson would be a good test for Smith and i thing Smith would struggle aginst him too!

Don't get me wrong, on paper, paul should be doing much better than he has done, and there is always that niggling worry that he will underperform for me. What would be good, is if he was put in against a couple of "names" so that he can see and we can see if he has got it or not.
See i thought dodson would have scrapped a points win against quigley. Maybe quigley had more fire in his belly than dodson, but i just dont see that being enough to see him through.
However you are quite right, it will be an amazing match up, and explosive. let's talk again after it, as we will klnow the score after.
By the way are you going?

Yer i'm goin like, so we will see come fight night.

Really lookin forward to it & at least FW has put a decent bill together.

... at risk of harpin on Smith should have fought for a british title sooner than in his 29th fight!

    its bull**** mate.
quigley never wanted this fight so whenever ppl in the media asked him about a possible bout with paul smith, he said no because theres bad blood, but smigga told me mate he hasnt got a clue what quigleys on about.

so quigley made up excuses why not to fight paul smith but the british boxing board stepped in and told him that if he didnt fight smigga within 90 days, he would be stripped of his title and smigga and mcgee would possibly fight for the vacant title.

its aaaaaaaaaaaaall bull**** mate!!! quigleys scared!!!:scaredas:

How do you think the bodyshots will effect quigley?

We all know how they affected him against nathan cleverley, will this be pauls main threat?

Paul throws a lovely left hook to the body, and i don't think there is a great deal that quigley is going to be able to do to stop them. If one connects, then it is good night.
I think it could be the main threat for quigley. If Paul switches from head to body quickly enough, he will drop him with the left hook.
