Sibson at his peak against these Brit's ? Eubank of the first Benn fight ? Watson of the Benn fight ? Steve Collins of the Pyatt fight?
I'd favour Sibbo over Collins on points in a good, competitive scrap, closeish at times but clear. Tidier and more accurate as a puncher, and Steve wasn't really the type of rangy big hitter that Sibson could struggle with. Watson is an intriguing one, I'll have to think about it more. The styles maybe favour Mike on a basic level, but he wasn't a more rounded, skilled fighter at middle as he was at super middle Imo, and he could be hurt despite having the range, accuracy and power to hurt Sibson himself. If Eubank was able to prevent himself from being drawn onto the front foot, where he wasn't very effective, he should beat Tony more often than not. It's not a given, because Sibson could box in reverse when he wanted to and had good movement. Eubank was slick on the back foot though, with very astute defensive upper body movement/positioning and good head movement. He hit hard too and was very big and rangy at the weight, able to counter in combination with real accuracy when he was focused. And he was more durable than Benn or Watson, which would be crucial against a Sibson level hitter. Sibson would finish what Logan started against Benn imo, more likely than not, though he could be taken out himself if he wasn't careful. That's a fight I'd have loved to see.
I disagree with Eubank`s counter punching being a problem for Sibson in the same way let`s say a expert counter puncher like Hagler was, even though Marvin was using a lot of movement vs Sibo he got into punching range more where he could counter whereas Eubank couldn`t gauge distance well and stood far away, very hard to counter that way.
Eubank would get caught more vs Sibo if he fought wide open like he did in the Benn fight than Hagler did vs Tony, Marvin was much better defensively than Eubank so he would get hit a lot if he threw the amount of punches he did vs Benn, Chris was always open after he punched but Benn didn`t counter enough in that fight. Don`t think Watson did much in his fight with Benn other than keep his guard tight and let Benn punch himself out Like McGregor did vs Floyd, if he kept his guard up like that though it would give him a good chank vs Sibson, it would have gave him a great chance against Eubank also in spite of the fact he did well in their second meeting, the Collins fight is a pick `em, McCallum would have beat Sibson how Hagler did but struggled a bit vs Collins so I`d lean towards Collins who performed at that level better than Sibson did vs Hagler.
