You couldn't put yourself on offer the way Hamsho did against a peak Tony Sibson. Mustafa tried to walk through everything. I can just imagine the look on his face when he tries to treat Sibbo's jab like it's nothing. Tony would knock holes in Hamsho. A blood soaked 7th or 8th round stoppage.
Man these old skool posters like area 53 and il duce used to really write nice lengthy answers....a couple of years before twitter changed forums...and McVey there....the wise soothing voice of reason
yeah this forum was a fountain of knowledge 8+ years ago. It’s worth just searching a fighter or topic and seeing if you can find some threads for years back. There are still some knowledgeable posters on here, but we have lost some great ones through the years.
Indeed...i find the twitterfication of society the biggest culprit...plus these touchscreens unconducive to lengthy posts
Some great posts here. I was a huge Sibson fan back in the day. Saw him fight many times. Great memories. He always had a huge following wherever he fought & was very popular. I saw him box in Paris & all over England. It was just a shame he was around when the Middleweight division was particularly strong. A hungry, motivated Sibbo with something to prove was a handful for most MW. I must admit l didn’t see much of Hamsho, but I would never bet against Tony Sibson.
Agree the only way Hamsho could be stopped at that juncture was on cuts. Hagler beat on him for almost 11 rounds until it was stopped on cuts. Sibbo certainly wouldnt be able to stop him any other way.
A bloody war. Hamsho probably loses by a cut, but until that time a barn barner. Unlike Hagler who was underappreciated for his defensive acumen especially when he was prime, Sibson would land much more on Hamsho , And bust him up. Sibson reminds me a lot of J,Frazier , short, bob and weave big left hook, (but underrated right hand, again like Frazier). Hamsho may cause Sibson issues early on with being a south paw and awkward, but the better skilled Brit would figure him out, win a unanimous dec, or stoppage by cuts.
