Thompson is no disgrace. Thompson is the man for taking a fight against a top 10 heavyweight with three weeks notice in his mid-forties. The dude should have hung them up years ago but he's still out there knocking out heavyweight prospects half his age. He's an inspiration like Bernard Hopkins.

Give him a little leeway. The guy is 78 year old, and took the fight on three weeks notice. Sure he looked slow as a tortoise and the fight was a foregone conclusion. Don't blame him though. Blame Golden Boy bringing in a shopworn 95 year old, instead of offering somebody like Shannon Briggs the shot. At least Briggs would have given it a game effort.

There is no doubt in anyone's mind that Thompson was just meat for the grinder. It was just a payday, nothing more or less. He had nothing to lose and money to make so he did what he needed to do. He gets no props from me for stepping up to a challenge because he was never about the challenge.

when a title fight includes a 45 year old nobody (who was nobody EVEN NI HIS PRIME) then you don't give him respect.
no, you switch over the tv and laugh at the fools who "give him respect"

I think Thompson showed amazing slickness and mobility for a 44 year old heavy weight, although his conditioning was far from best he could still do probably. At times it seemed like he was playing with Ortiz. Awesome confidence and heart he showed considering his age.

Respect be dammed, he got what he deserved, A paycheck and an ass whoopin. The fight should have never been sanctioned. That wasn't a good gym work out for Ortiz.

A disgrace? The man took the fight on in short notice when everyone else was avoiding Ortiz. Did he roll over and take the full count when he first got knocked down? No, he got up and carried on fighting. If you watch, he was trying to draw Ortiz onto a counter but he lacked the hand speed and conditioning. He was game as always and tried to 'old man' Ortiz. It failed but he has all the credit in the world from me.

    :good

Not to mention he took the fight on short notice... These armchair activists calling a 44 year old fighter who's never ducked anyone and made a career out of being the 'opponent' in hostile territory a disgrace should maybe look in the mirror. If you don't respect fighters like Thompson then you don't respect the sport.

When yall get through yapping, his old ass wasn't ready and he got in there for a paycheck. Foreman was 45 when he took the belt from Moore. The way Tony was running his mouth, I thought he would have been ready for a grizzly bear. If he knew that he wasn't going to be ready then why did he get in there, except for a paycheck.

Aside from the three kd's his performance wasn't that bad, he took three big clubbing Foreman like shots and got back up and was in the fight for six rounds. If you want to talk about disgraces check out Malik Scott vs Wilder. That's what I call a disgrace.
