He's a 250 lb, 6'5" guy coming off a 5th round KO of Krasniqi and hasn't lost a fight in over 7 years, when he lost a 4 round decision. also, he almost shut out Dominic Guinn after his win against A-Farce he's decent to say the least http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=21633&cat=boxer
He'll never do anything more than he has. I think the Luan K. win will be his career highlight. Once he steps up, they'll knock him back down.
i've never seen him fight so can you guys tell me why is he too slow? no skills? out of shape? no power? no chin?
From the limited footage I've seen of Thompson he seems to be a bit like TOS, good skills, decent power and okay chin so far.
he is very good but not sure if he can really fire up and be explosive, seems to fight at a very measured pace that doesnt change, but hey, its working for him so ill shut up till he loses
he is stiff, unathletic, no real power and simply doesn't look like a real boxer when he is in the ring.
STRENGTHS: 1.He has got a world class chin 2. He fights as a southpaw WEAKNESSES: 1. too slow 2. can't fight from the outside, weak jab 3. average power
Tony Thompson is so slow its unbelievable - Reminds me of Lance "Goofi" Whitaker Plus the Krasniqi KO was bull****, Krasniqi basically quit... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFsAeSdY2ps
The Bible of boxing trashed the Southern Disaster by saying that nickname suit him after the loss to the "largely un-heralded" Tony Thompson in a double page pic legend... I would find interesting if the same Press release would favour Tony to beat any of the top 10 Hwts, that would be flagrant double standard policy.
I give him no credit for the Krasniqui win. Krasinqui was done at that point, he showed no desire to win and had no footwork, which is essential for a boxer/mover. Like Asterion said he may get a title fight - where he will be outboxed or KOed by any champ.
